He just may be a man with the mental condition called The Don Juan Syndrome, in short, he’s a man who has to conquer as many women as he can to hide his underling homosexuality.
He haggard and frail look these days could indicate that he can no longer conquer or rape women and is facing what he thought he never would have to.
I don't know how immodestly Allen's wife was dressed or how she acted at the time, but wouldn't a normal man respond by saying, "Stop eyeballing my wife!"?
