Trump within 1 of Cruz in Texas poll
The Hill ^ | 2/24/16 | Jesse Byrnes

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is within 1 point of Ted Cruz in Cruz's home state, according to a poll released Wednesday.

Cruz has 29 percent support in Texas, followed closely by Trump, at 28 percent, and Marco Rubio, at 25 percent, according to an Emerson College poll released Wednesday. John Kasich takes 9 percent support, with Ben Carson at 4 percent.

The poll comes on the heels of Trump's dominant performance in the Nevada caucuses Tuesday, his third straight win in the GOP race.

Texas is one of the dozen states voting on Super Tuesday next week, and the billionaire businessman has made clear that he intends to beat Cruz in his home state.

"I think it's very likely that Mr. Trump can win here in Texas," Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson told CNN on Wednesday morning.

The only thing worse than Donald Trump's LIES, Flipp-Flopping, "Brown-Shirt style" threats of physical violence against protestors ...

is the genuinely pathetic excuse-making by his followers, such as "USAFA92's".

This is HOW Rev. Jim Jones persuaded his followers to drink the poison cool-aide.

Donald Trump "starts" a lie about Ted Cruz leaving Nevada ... and his cult-fans LOVE it ...

Donald Trump deserves congratulations after winning NH, SC and NV. It's politics.

But sometimes, as in NFL-NBA sports, the "winners" turn out to be complete @ssholes.

If "anyone" at Free Republic publicly threatened to punch the lights out of a guy standing across the street (exercising his first amendment rights) ...

"We" would be arrested and have our @ss thrown in jail.

Not The Donald, or Hillary either (funny how they both LOVE Planned Parenthood).

Draw your own conclusions.

Maybe some animals are INDEED more equal than others ...

Trump could spot Cruz the 155 Texas delegates and he will steamroll him on Super Tuesday.

It is proportional. It doesnt really matter who wins by 1 or 2 delegates.

The big question is NOT *can Cruz win Texas?* (probably he will)

The big question IS *where ELSE can Cruz win?* (MOST probably nowhere)

Is Texas proportional or winner take all or a combo?

Do I have to be on the list to suggest Siegfried’s funeral music as the official music of the list? (Suggested by a member of the Cruz SA.)

If Trump beats him in his home state that’s a knockout. At that point it’s all over except the polite and congratulatory concession speech.

The thing is, a bunch of other states the same day. If Cruz loses big in all of those and wins slightly in Texas, it is still a knockout.

If you saw his speech last night you will see he is already reeling from a knockout blow.

Correction: Winner-take-most, technically. Definitely not proportional.

“Because the Texas Primary is being held during the first week of March, the RNC rule applies that the delegates be proportionally divided, if no candidate receives over 50% of the vote.”

Nope. Only if you take 50% or more.

Thats not what the polls in Texas are saying. But this is, of course, coming from TheHill.com

Since Cruz won’t get over 50% it’s proportional if at least one other candidate gets over 20%.
