Republican party officials are reportedly hoping to nudge presidential front-runner Donald Trump toward party policy goals â and away from fiery rhetoric â by dangling access to crucial tools he'll need for a general election race.
Citing two unnamed sources, Politico reports Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus has started saying in private meetings the party has a trump card â voter data and field, digital and media operations typically inherited by a nominee. "It's a relationship," the RNC's chief strategist and communications director Sean Spicer tells Politico.
"Every nominee â it doesn't matter this cycle or last cycle â understands now that the role of parties is critical in terms of the manpower, the data, the press operation, the research. The bottom line is no nominee can win without the party."
Not everyone thinks the strategy will work.
"Does anybody have leverage over Donald Trump? Nope," a former RNC official tells Politico. "His own staff doesn't. No one can control him."

As Christ said on the cross 'It is finished'.
Rinse Penis, go away.
Note to GOPe: Trump doesn’t give a flying fk about you or his relationship with you.
Trump will win the nomination.
Then fire Rinse Pissonus.
Right if Trump is the Nominee he becomes the head of the Rep Party and the RNC better give him what he needs else Trump will let “US” know about it!!!
“...voter data and field, digital and media operations typically inherited by a nominee...”
As said before...How much good did this do McCain or Romney???
The GOPe needs to climb on board the Trump Train...
Trump doesn’t need the GOPe train at all....
LOLOL...the RNC; GOPe; RINO base, Wall Street and all other ‘rats’ running in the ‘hallowed halls of Congress’ we don’t want your kind of help anymore, you have sailed right down the river past us into the gutters of America....
WE, the American Voters have this election, and WE will nominate and put into POTUS who WE want...NOT YOU!!!
Turning him to the Dark Side.
Exactly...The same goes for Congress...Trump won’t just sit like a little lamb...he’ll bust you a new one with the public....
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’d be interested in what more the RNC wants from Trump. He wants to cut the deficit, end the war in the Middle East, nominate Conservatives to the SC, cut funding for abortion and build a wall and more. All are already part of the Republican platform.
I think they’re scared because they believe him.
The RNC thinks Trump is desperate for help targeting seniors with Pat Boone and Chuck Norris robocalls. (No offense to seniors or either of them, but that is about all the RNC ever does in my state).
If Trump is the Republican nominee, the party has absolutely no right and no business withholding any election tool that he needs to win the election. Shame on them for even thinking they have some sort of right to change the people’s choice. I want these people out. All of us at the gross roots need to get involved with our party at the local level and work towards weeding these despots out!
Damn right!
So if Trump gets the nominee and calls for Comprehensive Immigration Reform this will be the excuse made for his action?
Seriously? The RNC needs to put down the bong and get real-no one cares what they want, least of all a non-GOPe candidate...
‘So if Trump gets the nominee and calls for Comprehensive Immigration Reform this will be the excuse made for his action?”
that will neuter him worse than a rusty knife if he did that.
Lets say Reindeer Penis trys to get an open convention under the rule that any candidate has to have amassed 6 wins over 50% of the vote. And lets guess that Trump will have close to the number of votes he needs.
Reindeer Penis thinks he has all the cards, except Trump will have won most of the states. The fact that he didnât have over 50% in enough state is because there were 17 candidates and even now there are 5 left.
Romney didnât have to have 8 states in majority or he never would have been the Nominee. These are the Bush rules, they though Bushâs money would get him elected. The 8 state majority was for a brokered convention.
Actually Trump holds all the cards.
1. Trump doesnât need the GOP machine, the people are so pissed off at the failed Rinos of the GOPe they will side with Trump. Cruz, Carson and Trump people owe no allegiance for the GOPe, and have no love for them
2. Trump and Cruz were ambushed at debates by hostile MSM liberal commentators the RNC accepted. The booing of Trump has been roundly seen as violation of the RNC pledge to have a level playing field.
3 The RNC has had many leaks of meetings on a brokered convention, even before the IOWA caucus. Violating the Pledge.
4 Trump has his supporters, and as more people leave the race Trump picks up more supporters. Many of these people will vote for Trump at a convention. Trump can also make deals with people in the race for them to give Trump their delegates.
5 Trump doesnât need the GOPe organization. He doesnât need their money. He is organizing in every state. Local politicians are going to flock to Trump after he wins another 8 to 10 states.
6 Trump will have the base behind him and Trump will actually be able to force the GOPe people out like Reindeer Penis since the RNC will have no money or support. You never take on the King. Trump will give financial supporters of the GOPe retribution when he becomes president, Will they risk that? I donât think so
“””â...voter data and field, digital and media operations typically inherited by a nominee...â

Those two did not want to win as it would upset the uniparty.
they are just trying to remain relevant. Scared that people are waking up to realize all they have been doing is throwing away money people gave them(like Dole, Romney, McCain)
