Cruz: Rubio would be better president than Trump
The Hill ^ | February 25, 2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 02/26/2016 2:09:51 AM PST by ObamahatesPACoal

Ted Cruz said late Thursday that rival Marco Rubio would make a better president than Republican front-runner Donald Trump.

"Marco is not my enemy, Marco and I are friends. Marco and I would both make a much better candidate and a much better president than would Donald," Cruz told CNN's Jake Tapper after Thursday's Republican debate.

"I like Donald personally. He's a charming guy, although he can turn on you in an instant," Cruz continued.

Could yo give me an honest answer to this question?

Do you think off shoring, disastrous Free Trade or unbridled immigration to be major problems facing the future of the USA?

That is really odd. Cruz is currently running for president, and he endorsed someone else? I have never heard of that before.

It only makes sense if Cruz's true purpose in the race is to split the anti-establishment vote, before finally handing the nomination to the establishment candidate.

TRUMP was out-of-his-way nice to CRUZ from the summer up to the run up to IOWA. Then CRUZ took TRUMP on personally and directly because WINNING IOWA was all that mattered to CRUZ, and TRUMP hit back... AND HARD!!!

TRUMP is a winner, CRUZ has NO EXPERIENCE in anything except LAWYER TALK!

Barring some major 'macaca' moment, the nomination is basically over. These other contenders are just auditioning for the VP slot.

Cruz and Rubio may have over-stepped. Kasich may still be in play.

Rubio is polling well behind Trump in Florida. If he loses his own state, his run end.

Cruz is polling even with or slightly ahead of Trump in Texas. But, if he does win Texas, he still doesn't have a path to the nomination. Trump will likely accumulate hundreds of delegates from SuperTuesday.

Kasich has made 2nd in NH. He hasn't done too much harm, so he hopes he is on the VP short list.

Pardon me, but this is pure crap. At no time, has Trump EVER said that ‘’the government is going to pay for everybody’s health care’’.

What he SAID was that he would abolish 0bamacare (it is simple common sense that all provisions included in 0bamacare would be abolished with it), that we would be able to purchase much better plans, do the health savings account things/ be able to purchase policies across state lines- probably some other things I’m presently forgetting wrt to ‘’availability of better plans’’.

He didn’t even say that the government would be paying for indigent care. He referred to making deals with hospitals & providers to ensure that they had health care.

Why misrepresent the truth? It makes you- & Ted Cruz, look dishonest. Things like this are why Cruz is falling in the polls.

Trump’s mistake was engaging with that creepy government lawyer in the first place...he should have told Cruz to go sit with the moderators if he wanted to ask all the questions.

Trump was my second but after he and his followers decided to personally attack Cruz and his supporters, I will not vote for Trump. Many Cruz supporters I know and on FR feel the same.

Are you also for amnesty now, like Cruz and Rubio, out of spite for Trump ?

In fact Ted’s meeting with Ben was likely because DT will warm the bench
with an ACTUAL rat VP,

resulting in 16 years of Leftist governance.

Really? After all the lying and nasty smearing personal attacks from Trump, does anyone in their right mind think Cruz would favor Trump? I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t go to Trump if Cruz got out, simply because of the way he’s smeared a good man.

Trump is as much a part of the cartel as Rubio. He bought them.

Trump is at 82. He gained one (from NH, IIRC).

Rubio is at 16. He lost one (from NH, IIRC).

Carson has 5.

The numbers do vary as late precincts report.

Okay, his mistake was in responding to an oppenant’s question???? King Donald should sit in a corner and no one dare address him?

But a clear unvarnished lie is not the mistake you’re concerned about. You’re covering for someone who is a clear advocate for government funded universal healthcare and then lies about it.

9/27/15
Trump: I’m going to take care of everybody. The government’s going to pay for it.

2/26/16
Cruz: Donald, true or false, you’ve said that the government’s going to pay for everybody’s health care?

Trump: That’s false.

CRuz endorsed El Rubio, last night, and officially came out as part of the UniParty.

Your case is strong, Jane Long. I do not disagree. I'm giving Cruz (my 2nd choice behind Trump) a sliver of wiggle room here, as the last opponent standing in the 2-man race.

“Ok, Cruz lost it. Its now a two way race between Trump vs Rubio”

...And while this nonsense gets spewed, Rubio has still yet to show any state (including his home state of FL where he trails badly) where he has an actual chance of WINNING.

Cruz and Rubio may have over-stepped. Kasich may still be in play.

Kasich brings the experience and Ohio. Trump can win Florida without Bush or Rubio if Kasich is the VP. Women like him.

He will sell out his angry supporters

Which one won't?

Rubio did by joining the gang of 8 and pushing amnesty, even though he told voters in FL he wouldn't.

Now, Cruz is saying Rubio would be preferrable to Trump as the nominee. That certainly dents Cruz's conservative credentials. A Rubio presidency will give us amnesty, so Cruz apparently is acquiescing to that.

Kasich? He was the first Republican governor to apply for the Obamacare Medicaid money.

The issue is about trust. None of them are very trustworthy. After all 3 are politicians and 2 of those are lawyers.

Trump has built a financial empire. Maybe he has the knowledge to turn the economy around -- and it is in a massively bigger mess than the Obama years figures show.

Electing politicians -- whether Democrats or Republicans will only give us more of the same.

Rubio is a better candidate than Trump, even with all the things you’ve listed.

If your litmus test is only what they’ve said or done in this campaign, then Cruz and Rubio are as good as Trump when it comes to the wall. If you’re going to include things from before the campaign, Trump’s got even more problems.

But Cruz and Rubio are better in healthcare and judicial nominees. Cruz is better than the other two with fiscal restraint and gay marriage. Trump is better at hurling insults and saying things will be great so that his supporters feel big and important. That’s about it.

Not just amnesty. Rubio has been strongly in favor of Obamatrade also. TPA Teddy is back on the Obamatrade train with his endorsement of Rubio. That didn’t take long.

The two biggest issues relating to the future of the US and once again Ted Cruz is standing with fat cat crony capitalist K Street and against Main Street. That’s principled conservatism? Pathetic.
