Ted Cruz said late Thursday that rival Marco Rubio would make a better president than Republican front-runner Donald Trump.
"Marco is not my enemy, Marco and I are friends. Marco and I would both make a much better candidate and a much better president than would Donald," Cruz told CNN's Jake Tapper after Thursday's Republican debate.
"I like Donald personally. He's a charming guy, although he can turn on you in an instant," Cruz continued.
Why wait? This is the current set of numbers:
Donald Trump: 81
Ted Cruz: 17
Marco Rubio: 17
John Kasich: 6
Ben Carson: 4
Jeb Bush: 4
Carly Fiorina: 1
Rand Paul: 1
Not yet allocated: 2,341
Actually a very nice back of the hand smack against the Donald, the real competition.
Here is one for your analogy.
As of last night, out of seven people in two parties running, Trump remains 5 he sole candidate committed even verbally to securing our borders and removing people who shouldn’t be here.
Will he deliver?
Well, the other six candidates have said that they won’t.
Ted lost me with his Viva La Raza Rubio last night.
Not sure what I will do Tuesday now.
It damned sure won’t be voting for Cruz. I may write in Roy Moore, I may hold my nose and vote for Trump. Yesterday was a bad day.
If it comes down to it I will vote for Trump over Clinton.
But Trump is such a jerk and a crook with a flaming liberal track reccord, that the the more people find out about him the greater chances of Hillary winning the White House.
Nah, it was Cruz damning Rubio with faint praise.
Wow...a devastating statement for cruz. Betrayer scRubio is an amnesty pimp at best and is no friend to conservatives. Anyone who sides with the RINOs is the enemy in this election. ScRubio is one of them and I will not support him in any capacity.
I’ve been donating to Cruz all this time. I may support him in the primary but honestly I am thinking I may just vote for Trump and drop Cruz. I just get the feeling Cruz is flailing at this point and if he is beginning to make overtures to the RINOs it’s over, as they will betray him in the end and we will end up with Hillary. And in the end, this is who we need to beat.
I’ve been borderline the past month but maybe it’s time to commit.
Trump was my second but after he and his followers decided to personally attack Cruz and his supporters, I will not vote for Trump. Many Cruz supporters I know and on FR feel the same.
I watched it, it was like watching 2 and a half hours of Jerry Springer.
That wasn’t a Cruz endorsement for Rubio to be president.
It was just a statement of fact. Like saying that giving Americans diarrhea is better than giving them lobotomies.
What do you expect from an “outsider” with this record...
1995: Graduated Harvard Law School
1995: Law clerk to Michael Luttig, 4th circuit
1996: Law clerk to William Rehnquist, Supreme Court
1997-1998: Private law practice, worked on impeachment cases for Bill Clinton, served as private council for John Boehner
2000: Domestic policy advisor for the George W. Bush campaign
2000: Participated in the legal team that successfully fought Bush v. Gore up to the Supreme Court level
2000: Recruited John Roberts for the Bush legal team.
2001-2003: Appointed and served as associate US deputy Attorney General
2001-2003: Appointed and served as director of public policy planning for the FTC
2003-2008: Appointed and served as Solicitor General of Texas
2008-2013: Private law practice, represented such corporate clients such as Pfizer, a Chinese tire company, B. Braun Medical Company, Toyota, some major personal injury cases.
2013-present: Elected Texas junior Senator
So, Cruz has gone over to the dark side!
True!
Cruz wasn’t backing Rubio. He was indicating that EVEN the serial-liar Rubio would be better than Trump.
What I noticed about Trump last night is that he talks over people and interrupts them so that they can’t make their arguments until the time runs out. It’s the same tactic liberals use on news shows when they can’t win an argument.
Here is a short list of people who would make better presidents than Donald Trump: Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, John Kasich, Hillary Clinton, Vermin Supreme. Not sure about Bernie Sanders, that’s a tough one.
Yes, Cruz was backing Rubio.
Who am I to believe?
The camera and my lying eyes, or your equivocation?
Guess immigration isn’t as important as Cruz thought it was.
Hillary appreciates your endorsement and thanks you for your vote in November.
Plan B - Cruz wants to be Rubio's BFF.
Senator Remora has jumped the shark.
Great posting and very good analogy!
