Why Trump Is Winning
Newsmax ^ | 2/26/2016 | Scott Rasmussen

In a time where voters believe that all of official Washington is corrupt, the notion of having a president who doesn't owe anybody anything can seem enticing. Besides, many voters concluded long ago that it doesn't matter whether Republicans or Democrats win.

In either case, the political insiders are the real winners and the nation is the loser.

We've seen this storm coming. Three presidents in a row came into office with their party in control of Congress. Each time, unhappy voters expressed their disapproval in midterm elections by putting the other party in charge of congress.

Never before in American history has that happened to even two consecutive presidents.

This is a fundamental rejection of both political parties.

The rise of Donald Trump as the Republican front-runner is another expression of this frustration.

Why do Trumpers assume that because you have reservations about Trump you support the GOPe or open borders?Maybe it’s his past and current statements that worry us

And why should we accept what Trump is saying on pure, blind faith?

Right now conservatism is an untested academic exercise.

If a majority of the people in this country believe that, the nation is lost. We are living in the end of an era...

I don't understand that statement and the article does not explain it?

The problem is, conservatism hasn’t been marketed effectively.

Trump is “winning” because he is an establishment leftist with the media on his side.

#NeverTrump

The phony globalist career “Conservatives” (NR, Red State, etc.) have given “Conservative” a bad name. To them being “Conservative” means not caring if Boeing makes their planes in China or American workers are forced to work two part time jobs for half the money they used to make, as long as the transnational corporations’ bottom line is fat. Conservatism without nationalism is a fraud.

What ever happened to being a “uniter”, not a “divider”?

Chances are, conservatives will not get very much of what they want with The Donald. But on balance, neither will the more liberal folks in town. Much of what lies ahead for The Donald is undoing some of the damage already done, and while demolition is probably the best repair for many of the failing and unresponsive government programs already in place (and cluttering up the workplace in so many ways), there is going to have to be some transitional construction to keep things for shearing off and doing WAY more damage, before the replacement strategy is in place.

Something like grasping a speeding locomotive by the headlight, swinging it up through the air, and setting it back down on the tracks more or less accurately, heading back the direction from which it came.

Let’s see Limbaugh or Levin run for office based on their conservative principles and show us how it is done like Trump is doing.

Let’s see Limbaugh and Levin risk it all and show us what they can deliver. These two are academics preaching from a microphone. Let’s see them turn their academia into tangible results.

If they can then conservatism will not longer be an academic exercise.

“Why do Trumpers assume that because you have reservations about Trump you support the GOPe or open borders?”

Because that is the ONLY OUTCOME now possible, given Trump’s polling numbers through Super Tuesday.

The ONLY WAY Cruz can win at this point is if Trump TOTALLY COLLAPSES and pulls out...and I’m not even sure on that - Trump may still win.

So, even if some Cruz supporters have good intentions, they are acting as ENABLERS of the GOPe, given where we are now.

I found that 613,000 turned out to vote in the 2014 primary, which was considered horrible. Wanna bet it tops a million this year? And 30,000...not insignificant!

“In either case, the political insiders are the real winners, and the nation is the loser”

The politicians vote to please the donor class which are the insiders. The politicians and the donor class get all the benefits because they get what they want, and the voters are left out in the cold because their interests are of no concern. Very simple.

Cruz/Rubio voted for TPP/TPA and they are accusing Trump of being the con man! Simply amazing.

Can't argue with that.

Also conservatism isn’t about one way trade deals and unfettered illegal immigration.

Conservatism is a label that has been used by people who don’t do conservative things i.e. Ted Cruz and Rubio.

There comes a time when conservatism has to deliver concrete real things. It just has not delivered. It is like a pipe dream.
