Trump: My immigration plans aren't set in stone; Parts are "negotiable"
Politico ^ | 03/01/2016 | Hanna Trudo

Posted on 03/01/2016 8:03:10 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Donald Trump says parts of his immigration proposals are “negotiable,” but only minor details about his border wall.

In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday night, Trump responded to a question about a recent claim, first introduced by BuzzFeed earlier in the day, that he told The New York Times editorial board in an off-the-record tape-recorded meeting that he may not follow through with his proposed immigration measures if he is elected president.

“The New York Times is claiming today that they had an off-the-record conversation with you in January,” Hannity started.

“We had a board meeting, it was off-the-record, suddenly they leak it, it’s all over the place,” Trump said.

“They said it’s negotiable on the wall,” Hannity said in reference to Trump’s stance on Mexican immigration and his oft-stated promise to build a border wall.

“By the way it is negotiable. Things are negotiable,” Trump said. “I’ll make the wall 2 feet shorter or something.”

Trump was quick to add that the negotiation does not include nixing the idea altogether.

“Building it? Not negotiable.”

Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?” Hannity pressed. “Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?”

“I would say this,” Trump answered. “We will work out some system that’s fair, but we either have a country or we don’t. We need a border. We need a wall.”

“Quit deflecting. This isn’t about Cruz. “

IT NEVER IS, IS IT?!

He is YOUR candidate. The most principled man in the universe....but dont ask for details.

And so far all I hear is “Trump isn’t going to do ABC”.

What are you Cruz people so afraid of? We hear next to nothing about his agenda, and absolutely nothing about how he is going to get it through congress.

So take a break from Trump living in your head, and CLEARLY explain to us what Cruz is going to do for once.

Without the platitudes.

While you are worried about the way he’s handling the media.

The media would be doing this to Cruz if he was in the lead today.

The media needs to be destroyed. Job One.

And Trump just blew a hole in their "First Amendment privileges" big enough to drive a squadron of M-1 Abrams tanks through.

And the Media supplied the explosives. :)

One possible arrangement:

Every one of them can apply, legally, through the US immigration and naturalization service, for a chance to show their stuff.

They can get in line.

The Govt can, at their discretion, based on the need for such persons of such skills, allow some in to show their qualifications.

If they are productive people, that contribute the well being of the US, and are an asset to this beautiful country, after a period of five years as hard working tax paying contributers to society, they may be allowed to take a test, in English, regards US history and the US Constitution for a chance to become natrulized.

Those already here illegally can walk back across and get in the back of the line.

if caught here illegal, they will not be allowed to get into the line, at all.

“What would he need to get through Congress? All he has to do is what Obama won’t - enforce the law.”

Oh?

So basically the same that Trump will do, and just finish the wall that was already PASSED BY CONGRESS?

So what are you people bitching about then?

Things are negotiable,” Trump said. “I’ll make the wall 2 feet shorter or something.” “Building it? Not negotiable.”

There it is in black and white.

Trump says that the goal is not negotiable but the little details on things like size will be discussed. That really only makes sense. Location, technology, etc., are all issues that must be decided upon prior to construction.

But people would prefer to lie about what was said. They prefer to misrepresent than to be dishonest about Trump.

That just makes me doubt THEM and not him.

RE: How about the part about Mexico paying for it? Negotiable or non-negotiable?

To paraphrase Nancy Pelosi, you’ll just have to vote for him to see what’s in it for us.

It would be foolish at this juncture for anyone to set in stone the plans for accomplishment.

Especially with the non-stop onslaught of media and party attacks.

So any critizism aimed towards the other Candidates and allegations of flip flopping on issues was B.S. from the Trump supporters?

All I can say to that is WOW. That is all everyone has talked about the past 4 months. Donnie is gonna build a wall. Now the night before Super Tuesday it becomes......'well maybe not quite like that...'

I hope you all enjoy getting Roved again. He just sent out the red flare announcing it.

So we know Trump will build a wall, we know he is sending them back and we know he will allow the good ones to come back into the US. It has to be mentioned that this is called “touchback” and has been the democrats proposal and is even in the Gang of Eight bill. Ok, so once the good ones come back in, WHAT THEN? Trump hasn’t told us what his proposals will be for the “good ones.” What will their status be when they legally re-enter? I am betting it will be precisely what is in the gang of eight. So are we being snookered?

What do you mean, "we"? ;-)

I’m not a Trumpbot, but come one.

Everyone knows that reaching a goal involves some type of maneuvering. Maybe the type of wall (steel, iron) or the height of the wall (solid to 12 feet then security wire, solid all the way up) needs to be decided upon.

FR needs to chill.

How does the size of the wall have anything to do with being "fair???"

Unless you want him to sign an executive order of course he has to negotiate. The real question is will the American people come out on top of the negotiations or will it be as it has been for decades, multi nationals win
