Marco Rubio's top campaign adviser huddled with roughly 40 bundlers and K Streeters Tuesday morning to prepare them for a difficult primary election nightas well as to brief them on the campaign's plan for what to do next.
Terry Sullivan told supporters at campaign headquarters that the Florida Republican could secure just 100 delegates from Super Tuesday states in one of the scenarios he laid out.
Sullivan's prediction was part of his larger detailed powerpoint presentation going through different delegate counts for March, April and May. He told attendees that it would be mathematically impossible for Donald Trump to get to 1,237 delegate votes by the end of April, according to multiple attendees.
Sullivan said that Henry Barbour, a veteran Mississippi political operative, is leading Rubio's convention delegate strategy.
Several sources familiar with the meeting described it as an exercise in lowering expectations for how well Rubio needs to do in order to stay in the race for the White House.

At least rubio has a future after politics. He can be the new.don rickles
Classic!!! I have never seen that South Park meme applied so exactly to a real world situation.
Rubio will have to settle for a ‘Participation Trophy’.
This is the guy that ran the smear campaign in Mississippi against McDaniels.
Mississippi 14 tactic - not working on Trump.
If he is serious and making this a race, he should bail tomorrow morning.
Oh good. Why not get a McCain/Dole ticket?
Other than the establishment who thinks Romney has a base
More and more I'm believing that they plan to force a brokered convention and then offer of Mittens as a compromise.
If they tried that the base will tie Mittens to the top of the car and drive him to Mexico!
1) Not win a single state
2) ???
3) Win Presidency!
Well...his mentor was Jeb. Wasn't that his strategy?
and you should really check out the scary Carter-Reagan preelection polling. Ol’ Ron was shaking in his boots over his poor prospects. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ignore this noise. Whew! Sniff.
I don’t know if I buy all this. Rubio looks pretty strong here in MN — and naturally, all the GOPe up here is behind him and he got the endorsement of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. We haven’t seen a poll here since January, which had Rubio I think up 28-26 over Cruz and Trump around 20. Not to mention this is a caucus, so anything can happen.
I’m going out tonight to do my part and caucus for Cruz. We’ll see what happens, but it seems to me any of the top 3 could win here. If it’s Rubio, they will declare him the winner tonight — guaranteed.
No kidding...and Hillary would have a 50 state win.
Amnestio huddles with his bosses. Don huddles with 10K of average americans cheering. Popcorn?
The Cabana Boy's fatal mistake was actually the moment when he thought he was at the height of his power surge -- the Gang of Eight. And the grin on Schumer's face tells you all you need to know. The magnificent office seeker's GOP career ended that day. Here's a guy who has never worked an honest non-government job in his life telling us about the American Dream. This guy is a very rare phony. He is quite literally the most dangerous man to put in the Oval Office, scarier than Obama perhaps. Electing Rubio would be like replacing the Muslim president with the illegal alien president. |
That image looks Photoshopped to me. The horns in particular don’t look real. But, since we know they are, I believe the photo is OK.
Possibly Paul Ryan, the right hand man of the open borders and reward-the-illegal invaders crowd and the USCCB.
Been hearing that as well. I hope the GOPe geniuses realize that they'd be committing political suicide with these kind of moves. Absolute suicide. Of course it would be the end of the USA too since the likely result would be a Clinton landslide.
