Trump Put Through the Ringer in GOP Debate
US News and World Report ^ | March 4, 2016 | David Catanese

Donald Trump looked like a suspect being cross-examined on the witness stand before a suspicious jury.

His well-prepared inquisitors pried at his business dealings, raised doubts about his political consistency and even presented evidence likening him to a con man. It was an audaciously thorough, and at times painful, grilling that will now be chewed on by a jury of his peers.

If the 11th Republican presidential debate on Thursday night in Detroit doesn’t halt the front-runner’s parade to the nomination, it’s hard to imagine what will.

In the most intimate setting yet – with just four GOP candidates on a stage – Trump faced his harshest series of sustained, piercing questioning to date, courtesy of Fox News’ trio of unrelenting moderators. On top of that, he was forced to fend off intense flares of incoming fire from Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, each of whom are desperate to halt his momentum

But his diciest moments came during interchanges not with Rubio or Cruz – but Fox’s Megyn Kelly, with whom Trump clashed memorably seven months ago in the first primary debate of the 2016 cycle, when she pressed him on why he had previously made derogatory remarks about women.

This time, Kelly, like a competent attorney, came armed with even more evidence, including videotape and court documents.

One of the most memorable moments of the night was when Kelly rolled three pieces of tape showing Trump taking opposite positions on the same issue within just a matter of days. It displayed him giving contrary answers on whether to leave U.S. troops to fight in Afghanistan, whether Syrian refugees should be allowed into the country and whether the Bush administration lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq

I have to support Donald Trump because the other two WILL ABSOLUTELY be forced to face court challenges regarding their eligibility and NBC status.

Yet, at no time in the modern era, has any DemocRAT candidate been subject to the same degree of scrutiny, either by the media or the GOP.

Hillary! wouldn’t be able to show her face in public if her dealings received half the level of attention as the foreign object on Ted Cruz’ lip last night.

Possible as the GOP seems to be able to disable itself with in fighting. It depends upon
how the GOP jells once the nominating convention is over. If it turns out to be a knock
down drag out affair then the dems may win again.

Best line of the debate: When smart aleck Cruz said to Trump, “you brag about having 44% in the polls. That means 60% don’t want you to be the nominee.”

Trump: “So by the same logic, you’re at 14% and that means 85% don’t want you.

Cruz was speechless. Absolutely, hands down, the BEST put down, ever !

I agree. Why subject yourself to this? It’s all nonsense anyway and only fills up the FOX coffers with advertising money.

I’ve lost interest to the point I actually forgot there was a debate last night.

Seriously? He handled the questions well? Are you kidding me? He was not answering or saying he misspoke. Then when it comes to the visa program he says right in the middle of the debate “I change my mind” and then an hour after the debate he says he made a gaffe on the visa program. Like common on.

Trump was taking heavy fire from the left, the right, and the front and he still took care of business.

He appears to be more and more unfazed by the attacks. In the beginning, I think he took it all a lot more personally. Now, I think he is beginning to understand why they’re doing it, and he’s fielding things better.

The lack of professionalism by FOX journalists is being reported with barely contained glee by rival CNN!

From the article:

The goal was to try to figure out if Trump – a quasi-populist who has run awry of traditional GOP positions on a litany of issues – had a core.

His core was revealed to be pragmatism: “I’ve never seen a successful person who wasn’t flexible,” he said, unapologetically.

The people are becoming educated as to the original meaning of NBC as understood by the founders. That knowledge hasn't been taught in Civics class in decades.

Once they learn they will vote only for an eligible.
