I could see Trump, being a city guy and a builder, using the bully pulpit to blow the lid off this kind of thing. I know he couldn’t do much from the WH, but if he put that mouth of his to work I bet there would be an impact.

OUTSTANDING post. HOORAY Bill Whittle. I’ve witnessed Detroit first hand - the destruction of a great city. The mayor, chief of police and investors big and small are trying to get things done. It would take decades and families - lots of families - moms pops and kids, with education opportunities and job opportunities to bring it back to where it was 50 years ago.

Was worth the read. Facts are facts. The Welfare State by definition and seen in practice here demoralizes those who take its cash handouts. pre-War on Poverty, I was taught never to put my hand out for that money. Over 50 years later, after generations of anti-rugged individualist propaganda, Americans feel entitled to ask for whatever they can get from one another’s pockets. We've been set up to see each other as enemies. Now that the medical system is succumbing to this anti-Capitalist onslaught, our very lives will be endangered. We'll all be victims of the Welfare State.

There were two fatal mistakes here. LBJ's creation of a Poverty Empire "to rule them all" (Tolkien reference) from Washington was one of them. But what put the nail in it was hiring by race, which, in civil service jobs, is immoral and illegal. The injection of a "racial spoils" system creates a tribal atmosphere where standards of performance or legality come to be viewed as assaults against the tribe.

The immediate effect is to drive out the competent and honest members of the favored tribe, since their self-sacrifice earns them nothing and their honesty makes the professional thieves angry.

Doing your job and not stealing from your employer require self-restraint. If there are no consequences for non-performance and graft, there will not be performance, and there will be graft. To the entire city, the wages of sin--as always--is death. Lots of death.
