True. Waterboarding was never torture.

The Geneva Convention would allow it.

The Geneva Convention allows for US waterboarding and worse:

“The Conventions apply to a signatory nation even if the opposing nation is not a signatory, but only if the opposing nation “accepts and applies the provisions” of the Conventions.[12]”

Trump won't let the media get away with their over-hyped, liberal nonsense without getting called on it.
But he didn't "won't let the media get away with...".

He wimped out. He back-peddled.

Right in time for him to "pivot" back to his "New-York-Values" liberal positions.

It would have been nice if the Republican front-runner had thought this out PRIOR to shooting his mouth off.

I would seem to me that something that doesn’t not harm you, would be hard pressed to be deemed torture.

I agree with Trump. I wouldn’t ASK either. I’d expect it.
The clarification is simply pandering to the demokkkrat voters. Remember he’s having to tap imam zero’s low info voters to get the presidency, otherwise he won’t be able to do a thing if he is not in office.

Trump actually did NOT back down on waterboarding. He only said the following...

In a statement Friday, Trump clarified that he would not order a military officer to disobey the law. If elected, he said, he will be bound by laws “just like all Americans” and will meet those responsibilities. He added that he feels very strongly about the need to attack and kill terrorists who target the United States and its people, and will not forget the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

“I will use every legal power that I have to stop these terrorist enemies,” Trump said. “I do, however, understand that the United States is bound by laws and treaties and I will not order our military or other officials to violate those laws and will seek their advice on such matters.”

That is not backing down on Waterboarding per se.

They might, but if the Prez is behind them, very little they can do.

We have had a military terrified of doing anything (witness the Iran sailor situation) because they know Zero will not back them. Pres. Trump will back them.

Seriously?

At his 1:00 rally in Michigan he reiterated his position on waterboarding

Hey, watch what you say about Dugout Don. Dugout Don is Patton! A FReeper said so! Even did a graphic of Dugout Don and Patton together. It was quite convincing. /s

Your post, and the link are both irrelevant.

The US has never ratified Protocol II, therefore we not a Party to that part of the treaty. Your statement applies to how other nations who are Parties to PII should regard us, and it says they are bound by it so long as we accept and apply the provisions. We don't accept or apply the provisions.

In any case, this clause regards signatory countries obligations to us, and not our obligations to terrorists.

Please READ what I posted.

The GC is an iron-clad agreement to protect terrorists IF you have ratified Protocol II. We have never ratified Protocol II.

Fred I did mean to misconstrue your words or cause an implication that was not accurate concerning your position. I merely meant to clarify my own.

I appreciate your contribution to the thoughts on this.

Thanks. Because this is me [not the first time I've posted it. Won't be the last, for sure.]

I'm GLAD the US has never ratified Protocol II. There shouldn't be any provision in international law that protects terrorists.

On the other hand, while I don't have any terrorists in my family, I do have some libtards. You can pick your friends. You can't pick your idiot family.

Hey, it’s Trump who backed down. Apparently, he doesn’t know what you do.

Yes, troops feel much more comfortable knowing the leader changes his mind publicly and frequently. It inspires great confidence.
