Super Saturday results show Rubio collapsing, Trump stoppable and Cruz gaining momentum
Washington Post ^ | March 6, 2016 | James Hohmann

Ted Cruz won decisive victories in Kansas and Maine on what’s being called “Super Saturday,” and he came within three and four points of scoring upsets over Donald Trump in both Louisiana and Kentucky.

Bernie Sanders, meanwhile, easily won caucuses in the overwhelmingly white states of Kansas (68-32) and Nebraska (56-44) while Hillary Clinton romped in Louisiana (71-23), where just as many delegates were at stake, thanks to overwhelming support among African Americans.

-- The biggest story line out of last night, though, is calamity for Marco Rubio. It was his worst showing since the New Hampshire primary – and arguably more damaging. The floor appears to be falling out from underneath the Florida senator: Not only is his win-loss record now 1-18, but he took a 17 percent in Kansas despite canceling events elsewhere to campaign in the state and receiving endorsements from Gov. Sam Brownback, Sen. Pat Roberts and Bob Dole.

And all this talk about a Cruz vice-presidency is to laugh.

Since that day in his office when Trump loaned Cruz a suit coat to wear for a photo (which was too big in the chest and long in the arms for Ted), Cruz has been riding Trump’s coattails while back-biting him.
Trump is as inevitable as the tides. If Cruz was as smart as his fans say (like algore) he would be working for a job as Giuliani’s chief deputy in the AG’s office. There’s going to be more than enough work for everybody.

It would be best for America, but wouldn’t serve his all-consuming ambition.

It’s now Trump vs Cruz.

I’m a Trump supporter but would vote Cruz. The Establishment is dying, and we did this.

Quote:

“That’s something we can all celebrate. The death of the GOPe.”

Hardly. The GOP is going to use Cruz to keep Trump from getting the delegates needed to secure the nomination. Then they get their “brokered convention”(we have no choice rules are rules)and select their anyone-but-Trump-or-Cruz candidate(the delegates “voted their conscience”)and hand the election to Hillary.

Thus the status quo is preserved for the Ruling Class.

I suspect the Trump folks have this very much planned out down to the final gavel at the convention. I also think that as a pretty successful businessman he is utilizing the OODA principle. If used properly this system rarely fails. OODA stands for Observe Orient Decide and Act. It was developed by an Air Force combat pilot and is applicable universally. As long one does not deviate from its principle, it will mostly bring you what you want.

If they are not caucuses or his backyard, Cruz will have trouble getting a bellhop to carry his bags.

This is comical coming from a guy who just a few days ago told us Cruz had maxed out in the primaries and wouldn't win 5 states. Oops. Your prognostications are about as valuable as everything else you post.

Cruz came within a few thousand votes of a four state sweep yesterday.

Suuure he was. However, being second will never make him first in the race. Cruz is still behind Trump by over 100 delegates. AND 10 or more percent BEHIND Trump.

As they say close only counts with hand grenades and horse shoes.

Then why were all the trumpers so close to suicide yesterday.

I saw at least 3 sobbing that if Trump is cheated out of his rightful throne, they would not vote.

Runnin’ scared now.

I agree with your premise, Johnnie. Trump exploded on the scene and did cause an earthquake.

I will always be glad he did that.

But, in the aftermath of the earthquake, there is clean up to be done.

And in the cleanup, we’ve sadly discovered that Trump is a flawed hero.

Deeply flawed in both policies and personal life.

There is a better guy running. One who would be better for the country and have a much better chance of beating Hillary.

I would be fun, fun, fun to see Hillary and Trump duke it out.

But I want to defeat Hillary and Trump is in decline even among his former supporters.

He has such a negative rating with the general public and there is so much dirt in Trump’s past, that I think he might be the one guy in the known universe (and Mars - did we ever get Matt Damon back?) that Hillary could beat.

I desperately do not want Hillary.

” best chance to beat the Establishment in both parties is Cruz, as much as Trump folks want to believe otherwise.”

So very true.

I hope some of the trumpers will realize that and come around.

Maybe sing ten ways to lose your lover and bid a fond farewell to Trump.

That’s the kind of snotty remark that makes people despise trumpers.

Take a lesson from Johnnie... get a little class.

Rubio could do himself a huge political favor if he would drop out ahead of the Florida primary and endorse Cruz.

Losing Florida ... and he wouldn’t even have a senate seat to fall back on ... would put the lid on his political career.

But if he would join Cruz, together they could beat Trump and Cruz might toss him a bone after he is elected.

Does Rubio have the humility to ever do anything like that? Would he put the country first and do it?

Hahaha. And yet, you Trumpers are so fond of dead horses that you still focus on a couple of things about Cruz that have been proven wrong ... and you do it over and over.

You cannot explain away Trump’s friendship with the Clinton’s. It went far beyond a wedding invitation.

It went to multiple donations and endorsements.

And ending with a snotty little dig at Cruz because he’s not a millionaire. So unworthy. So sad.

“The only thing CRuz has ever *owned* is his govt checks.”

This is a new lie being pedaled by Trumpettes: Ted Cruz only worked in government. False. He worked in the private sector for 7 years during the 16 years between graduation from law school and his swearing in as United States Senator.
