For most non-political junkies last night was just another quiet Saturday night. However, in the world of politics, which will determine the trajectory of our country for the next four years, last night might have been the turning point. If Cruz winds up upsetting Trumpmania in this election, last tonights largely overlooked contests will have been the Battle of Midway of this nomination war...
Here are the 8 key outcomes:
1. Cruz is surging...
2. Rubio/Kasich playing spoiler...
3. Rubio is out of luck...
4. Kasich is the new Rubio...
5. Closed caucuses/Primaries matter...
6. Early voting is a killer...
7. RNC Rule 40...
8. Cruz can beat Trump...

“... the dems would be in power forever ... or until ISIS invades, whichever comes first.”
There’s a difference?
what if they revoke or change rule 40 when they adopt the new convention rules?
Another dead horse post.
Anyone with a brain, or even half a brain, knows that the GOPe fears Ted Cruz because they have reason to know he is a man of conviction and principles.
He has proven it.
They also know that Trump is malleable.
If you are talking about Romney, I haven’t seen anywhere that he support Cruz.
I actually think is he playing for the brokered convention thing which would be a disaster.
A slight difference. LOL
Hilarious. Bernie and Cruz won the same states yet I hear nothing about Bernie beating Hillary.
*****************************************
It’s because of the Super delegates. Bernie is never going to win the delegate count.
Give it up, for the love of Mike. You are perhaps the most consistently negative, tiresome, content free poster here on FR, and given the competition of last few weeks from napscoordinator, Greetngs Puny Humans and others, that’s saying something.
You can get an amen on that, John.
A very interesting read.
Reasons to Vote Early...
1. You're an obstinate a***ole who's made up your mind
2. You're too clever for your own good: Gee I'll vote early so I can vote for someone who no longer has a chance without having to wait in line!
3. You're an idiot
“What does RNC Rule 40 mean?”
Rule 40 adopted in 2012 at the Republican Convention by a questionable voice vote, roll call denied. The Virginia delegation, which opposed rule 40, was given a ride around by a “lost” bus driver from the hotel to the Convention hall and didn’t arrive in time for the vote.
Per Rule 40, unless a candidate gets 8 states with 50% + 1 vote there cannot be a vote where delegates are constrained to vote in the 1st round for the candidate they were bound to vote for. In an uncontested delegate vote, the delegates are not obligated to vote for how their state voted. They vote their conscience (rare) or they vote the way the person (GOPe) who selected them directs them to vote for. If they vote otherwise they will never be selected as a delegate again.
Thanks.
>Can I get an AMEN from the Conservative Faithful?
Amen!
You go GGG.......great answer
Cruz has to unite with Trump. Or the Conservative Movement is broken and can never unite again for sometime over the bad blood. It seems like the ball is in Cruz’s corner. They way I see the two factions in conservative grassroots just disagree. And one of the handful of people who supported both. But lost confidence in Cruz. So bottomline. All Cruz is doing is causing a brokered convention if Trump wins Florida and Michigan and Ohio big. Cruz’s path would be closing. I would hate for Trump or Cruz to go out whining. A brokered convention will get neither the win. They will disenfranchise both and give it to Romney or Bush. It’s just one of those years where two guys got plenty of anti establishment support.
“Closed caucuses/Primaries matter: All four contests last night were closed to non-Republican members. It is quite evident that Donald Trump does much better with cross-over voters but as the primaries continue, most of the remaining contests are closed. This should help Cruz going forward.”
Set aside the Cruz-Trump implications. I simply hate the idea of Democrats deciding the Republican nominee. I think it is crazy. I thought it was crazy four years ago. Whenever I first heard of this, I thought it was crazy. Only Republicans should choose their nominee.
I’ve seen so many manipulative double-standards from liberals that I feel obliged to renounce double standards here. I do not think Democrats should choose the Republican nominee; I do not think Republicans should choose the Democratic nominee.
Amen!!!
I’d like to see a Trump/Cruz ticket, but Cruz has not shown me good faith in avoiding getting his NBC eligibility decided in a federal court. That could come back to bite him (and us if he’s on the ticket for general election).
I’m hoping for the best and trusting for God’s grace in all of this.
