Super Bowl winning NFL tight end and coach Mike Ditka reacted to Romney, establishment attack to take down Trump on WABC-AM's The Bernie and Sid Show at the end of the week. Ditka said the country needs someone like Donald Trump to follow Barack Obama and that is why he is voting for Donald Trump.
"This country needs leadership," Ditka told hosts Sid Rosenberg and Bernard McGuirk. "It needs direction. It needs somebody that steps up front. We need somebody like Ronald Reagan."
"If I were to vote tomorrow, I'd probably vote for Trump," Ditka said.

The Coach has it right.
We will piddle around with this and end up in a brokered convention.
Trump is nothing like Reagan. Nothing.
Ditka is right about Obama. Will he be fired from CBS?
“Trump is nothing like Reagan. Nothing.”
There is some interesting overlap on a Venn diagram. Not a perfect congruence by any means, but there are indeed some similarities with the Great Communicator.
A Ditka dictum
I lived through Reagan’s TV and political career.
There are definitely some close parallels between Reagan and Trump:
Leadership, Courage, The Ability to go over the head of the media, a rejection of the establishment GOP, an appeal to the blue collar American.
I could go on.
Hail to Pitt!
I agree.
Ditka just won Illinois for Trump.
He would be if Obama were running again.
There’s a possibility he won’t be, but they’ll probably tell him to shut up.
Trump arrives at some similar policies by a different route.
Reagan, at the time he ran, was sold on conservatism per se.
Trump is assembling the largest populist parade he can. This happens to embrace a lot of things we know as conservative.
The “lack of conviction” may trouble some of us, but I think as long as we understand how and why Donald has arrived at the place he is at, he will not surprise us too badly.
I agree. Trump is like the majority of Americans. A buffet plan moderate, with no real ideological framework. At his core there is enough old school patriotism and business sense that he satisfies me on those points. We’ve been mesmerized so long with neocon ideology that we’ve lost sight of the fact we are being boiled slowly. Trump is the jump out of the simmering water.
Trump is most certainly NOT a great communicator. He is a name caller. He may be entertaining, but read transcripts. Great communicator he most certainly is not.
Donald Trump: Vladimir Putin's praise is 'a great honor'...It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond ,"

Joe Scarborough: Again, he [Putin] kills journalists that don't agree with him
Trump: Well, I think our country does plenty of killing also, Joe, so, you know. There's a lot of stupidity going on in the world right now, Joe. Lot of killing going on, a lot of stupidity, and that's the way it is.
You would prefer a second Cold War? Carly is that you?
Lets see,I’d say.....Dikta 245...The Vikings 12.
I am old enough to remember Reagan, too. Those who aren’t can read transcripts and see video. They are NOTHING alike. The ONLY similarity is that Reagan was the President and a member of the GOP. Trump wants to be President and is an occasional member of the GOP. It stops there. Reagan was pure class. Trump is classless.
Perhaps the most important similarity is that both men are strong leaders following miserable Presidents. I believe that Ted Cruz is also a strong leader and an honorable man. But, in this time and place, we also need someone who is ruthless.
