Obama: Trump's rise not my fault
TheHill.com ^ | 03/10/16 | Jordan Fabian

President Obama on Thursday dismissed the notion that he’s responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, who has harnessed voter anger during his presidential run.

“I’m not going to validate some notion that the Republican crackup that’s been taking place is a consequence of actions that I’ve taken,” he said during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Obama acknowledged he shares some blame for the widening partisan divide during his term in office, but he urged GOP elites to do some “introspection” about the how “the politics they’ve engaged in allows the circus we've been seeing to transpire.”

Despite his feuds with Republicans in Congress, Obama insisted that he wants “an effective Republican Party.”

“I think this country has to have responsible parties that can govern,” he said, adding the GOP could “challenge some of the blind spots and dogmas in the Democratic Party” on issues such as trade.

He pointed a finger at conservative media and GOP leaders for fueling “a notion that everything I do is to be opposed; that cooperation or compromise somehow is a betrayal; that maximalist, absolutist positions on issues are politically advantageous; that there is a ‘them’ out there and an ‘us,’ and the ‘them’ are the folks causing the problems you’re experiencing.”

He cited the movement of people who question his birthplace as a prominent example of that phenomenon.

“I don’t think I was the one to prompt questions about my birth certificate, for example,” he said. “I don’t recall saying, 'hey, why don’t you ask me about that. Why don't you question whether I'm American or whether I'm loyal or whether I have America's best interests at heart?’”

“One more Bush’s fault for old time’s sake?”

For the FIRST TIME, it (Trump’s rise) really is Bush’s fault. Bush was the one that OPENED THE BORDER to flood the country with potential Democrat voters, all Obama had to do was continue Bush’s policies and wait for a useful idiot Republican (as in Rubio) to legalize them. Rubio was stopped...but that’s just a plug in the dike...buying enough time for Trump to get elected and REVERSE this crap.

Hate to agree with Obama but he is right. Obama is what he is and doing what he is doing because he’s being enabled and allowed. The GOPe, Media,Academia, and big business globalist are the ones who gave rise for the NEED for Trump.

I caught some of O’s press conference. “I’m a uniter. Government is compromise, and Republicans won’t compromise. I think it’s because I’m black, and because the Republican voters are stupid. They have been whipped into a frenzy by talk radio.”

At least that’s the way it came across. I couldn’t bring myself to watch all of it. Obama has a gift for being disingenuous—saying half truths and outright lies in a reasonably framed cadence and with a thoughtful-looking demeanor. It’s a parlor trick, but a good one.

The election of Obama lowered the bar.
Obama was the perfect storm of narcissists and morons coming together in a common-cause of destroying their perceived enemy.

[Obama is what he is and doing what he is doing because he’s being enabled and allowed.]

Don’t forget the “principled conservatives” who decided to stay home or vote 3rd party instead of Romney, allowing a 2nd Obama term. You know, the same “principled conservatives” that are complaining about Trump this cycle.

If obama is going to live in Washington area after Jan 2017, it would be so he can be in the position to stop the next President from changing/removing anything he did. He lives in his own bubble and he thinks he’s so loved by the media.. he’s so right in anything he did.... nothing is his fault.. it’s everyone else’s... and he believes if he speaks out.. he can still control everything.. After all, he’s the king... and he’s that important. I don’t think he’s going to go off somewhere and leave us all alone.

But I also believe if Trump is the next President, the media will be so busy with Trump, that obama will be a fly on the wall. Trump’s presence brings the media out... and there will not be a dull moment.

Blind hog. Stopped Clock. Obama is right about this.
Obama did not cause ‘the rise’ of Trump.
The GOP-E caused the rise of Trump through their by utterly discrediting themselves. Their treacherous failure to oppose Obama and his policies, after publicly promising to do so, completely undermined their credibility.
And they have no idea how much they are hated.

Obama has a skill for being a 3 card Monte dealer. He does do it well as you note.

I agree with some others have said, the GOPe by setting the stage for Zero's policies on immigration and the financial assistance and then failing to stop any of his lefty ideas (yesterday the house cheered when they approved a huge expanded visa program) is what gained traction for Trump. Trump may in fact be a liberal, who cares right now, we have been so co opted it makes no philosophical argument important. What is important we must take our country back from the leeches on one end and the sell out globalists on the other. We are the US, not some hostel or some equal of a bazaar for selling foreign made products. At one time we actually stood for liberty and individualism, today it is being on the government dole and co dependence.

Gee, I wonder how this could have been fixed?
Maybe if the ‘Pubbies had offered something other than NE Liberal ‘Pubbie from the most Liberal state in the Union, who helped pass the prototype for Obamacare?
Maybe if they nominated someone who would actually put a fight?

Wouldn’t it be nice if Obama got Presidential for a change and said that people going to rallies just to disrupt them shouldn’t go to those rallies. I don’t recall any protestors being allowed at Obama rallies when he was campaigning.

Nothing is ever Obama’s fault.

He sounds like my teen-aged daughter (only without the charm).

LOL, riiiight. His definition of an effective Republican Party, and mine, are vastly different. He got what he really wanted, a bunch of suckers, who cave into him every time.

Well, I have to agree with him for once. It is the fault of the GOPe rhinos that were elected to fight for us in 2008 and 2012.

Obama is the guy who farts and leaves the room and then comes back in and says, “Man, it stinks in here.”

0bama is also definitely not responsible for the rise in gun and ammo sales.

He’s not responsible for polarization of the country.

He’s not responsible for increases in health care costs.
