Rubio's campaign tells Ohio supporters to vote for Kasich

Marco Rubio’s campaign says supporters of the Florida senator should back John Kasich in Ohio on Tuesday if they want to stop Donald Trump.

“If you are a Republican primary voter in Ohio and you want to defeat Donald Trump, your best chance in Ohio is John Kasich,” Alex Conant, Rubio’s communications director, told CNN.

“The same is true here in Florida,” Conant said, emphasizing that Rubio is the candidate best positioned to beat the real-estate mogul in the state’s primary Tuesday for its 99 winner-take-all delegates.

“Yes, my answer is John Kasich is the one candidate in Ohio that can beat Donald Trump,” Conant said when pressed on whether he was asking Rubio supporters to back Kasich in the governor’s state. “That’s stating the obvious.”

-- All the statewide elected officials are telling all of us Ohioans to vote for Kasich. --

The rot is pervasive and deep, and not just at the federal level. I would be shocked if these self-important nannies didn't perform their customary "we're here to order you around" gig.

I just got back from early voting, and the line was out the door. While I was there, almost every person asked for a Republican ballot. I live in a county east of Cincinnati.

Rubio is just as ashamed of this maneuver as he was of his Gay college days—not!

of course you know I’m talking about the candidates.

And only one has been a “drug pusher” in the corrupt DC racket.

Kasich has no path to win. He is playing for contested convention VP nominee.

It's not a "Rubio scheme," it is a "NeverTrump scheme," and Cruz is the designated beneficiary of it. The only reason Cruz is able to hide his hand is that Kasich is in reasonably good shape in Ohio.

CNN covering the GOPe #NeverTrump scheme now.

You are referring to Trump, I'm pretty sure, but I don't know what your "drug pusher" reference means.

Hopefully if Trump isnt the nominee he would help to get a permanent 3rd party going that would essentially destroy the Gop. I would be willing to work for that. Cruz has won several states but has hardly got any votes compared to Trump. I really think that Trump would beat the Gop candidate nation wide. We ve needed a big change for a long time and its coming. No one can stop it ,the change for the better is here.

Hopefully the voters will see even more how disgusting the Bush family is and the Gop establishment. The Bush family should be shunned in Americafor the rest of time. Truly a family beholden to foreign interest. I love seeing the establishment being exposed, its been a long time coming. The genie cant be put back in the bottle now. They work for others not Americans. Never forget.

Talk about a screwed up philosophy. Most of the Rubio backers I know in Florida are voting for Cruz. I guess you and your family will cancel them out.

In other words both Rubio AND Kasich are in trouble in their home states.

A clear majority of Republicans do not want Trump. He is “winning” with 35% of the vote. Time for the others to do precisely what are are doing - combining votes so the the majority will pick the candidate.

And what’s thus about Trump supporting affirmative action? He’s not even a RINO. What happened selecting candidates who are conservative?

What is truly amazing and very revealing is that Republicans have never campaigned this hard against a Democrat, ever. Never ever!

Bingo!! If Cruz was in the lead and Trump on the Democrat ticket, the attack would be full on Cruz, not Trump.

>> has Rubio officially dropped out?

No, he’ll continue campaigning into 2017 on behalf of that special man on the corner, the refugee fleeing tyranny, the baby without diapers, the grad without a job... because he cares.

Yup, the GOP-e despises the Republican constituency.

Kick the GOP-e to the curb.

He’s a devious troll who was plopped in the race to get Ohio and he is staying in it because he is being ‘played’ by the establishment.

He truly thinks they will anoint him President as a brokered convention.

He's a professional politican. The Governor of a Ohio. You don't get there by allowing yourself to get played. There's only one reason he enterd the race: He was promised something (golden parachute/VP slot/ambassador somewhere etc..) to split the vote up in Ohio enabling Jeb Bush's victory. Now that Bush is out, his job is to stop Trump. Soon after Ohio is over, he'll bow out of the race and receive his golden parachute.
