Cruz: Trump Is Manipulating 'Low-Information' Voters

Ted Cruz accused Republican front-runner Donald Trump of taking advantage of 'angry, low-information voters.'

“Listen, Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice,” Cruz told “The Brody File” in an interview conducted Wednesday and published Thursday.

Cruz, who has racked up wins in Idaho, Maine and Kansas in the past week, said his campaign performs better among informed, engaged voters.

“When they inform themselves, they realize his record,” Cruz said. “He’s what they’re angry at. He is the corruption, and if you want someone to stand up to Washington, the only one who has been doing so in this race is me.”

The Texas senator acknowledged Trump has done well in Southeastern states — he’s won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. But Cruz said his campaign has done well in that pocket of the country, too, often coming in second to the New York billionaire but still picking up delegates.

“Now Donald has a harder problem in the West,” Cruz said. “It’s interesting. I mean, his location, he does well in the Southeast. He does well with a certain demographic of voter. Donald gave a press conference where he said, to quote him, ‘I love the poorly educated.’” Cruz suggested Trump is “taking advantage of his voters because” they’re angry. “I understand what they’re angry about, but, Donald, if you’re angry at the corruption of Washington, you don’t solve it by supporting someone who has been enmeshed in the Washington corruption for 40 years,” he said.

No, he’s not.

You talking or posting on an Internet board doesn’t validate as truth.

But I’m sure it gives you a feeling of a real, full life.

Lucky you. Trump was just a bit over an hour away from us in northern Michigan and we were both unable to get off work...

Then on the weekend just after we bought a car from a young man who had gone. 21 year old kiddo with a great head on his shoulders.

Okay. So Trump reaches them.

I think that’s what Cruz said.

Jeez.

And everyone’s excoriating him for it.

Trump reaches the uninformed, low information voter.

Cruz didn’t say they ALL were.

Right?

Or do you really believe Cruz was saying 100% of Trump’s supporters were uneducated, low-info voters?

No, really.

I knew it was just a matter of time before that Ivy League snobbery would shine through his “Christian” facade.

Then I will:

“We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated. We’re the smartest people, we’re the most loyal people, and you know what I’m happy about? Because I’ve been saying it for a long time. 46% were the Hispanics—46%, number one with Hispanics. I’m really happy about that.

So I’m very proud of you, this is an amazing night. I love the country, I love the country. “

Just awful...

I am about as highly informed as you can get and I support Trump. I want to “flush” the toilet. The more the establishment screeches and resists, the stronger my desire to vote for him. We were betrayed by both parties and it is time for a citizen leader.

I like and will vote for Cruz if he is the “guy”, however, I don’t think he can win the general this year. His time is coming....just not yet. IMO.

I myself don’t recognize the place any more. I used to come here quite often, but have become almost completely inactive after what I’ve seen it turn into. The owner himself has become a complete and total hypocrite, failing to realize that Donald Trump represents EVERYTHING he has criticized in the past.

Cruz, otherwise a conservative hero who has ACTUALLY gone to Washington to fight the establishment (and has the scars to show for it) is attacked relentlessly. This is done to support a guy who doesn’t even know what he believes (he is apparently unaware of the policy positions listed on his own website), has spent nearly his entire life donating to liberal politicians and liberal causes, and has zero apparent moral character. Trump is the Republican Obama, except maybe worse.

It’s ironic that on the day Cruz said that Trump appeals to low-information voters (which is true, or at least Trump’s repeated own words to the effect certainly seem to say so), he’s endorsed by a member of 2 Live Crew, not exactly a paragon of intelligence or virtue.

There aren’t any other sites to go to, sadly.

Yeah, that’s why Teddie loves push polling so much:

A push poll is an interactive marketing technique, most commonly employed during political campaigning, in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of voters under the guise of conducting a poll.

Educated, high-info people love listening to some phone-tank geek getting paid $8 an hour to read from a script to try and cram “Vote for Cruz!” down their throats.

That's why they jumped ship to vote for a guy who was a democrat till last Tuesday. That's a funny idea of loyalty. Maybe if you make the picture bigger I'll be convinced this time.

Actually...Cruz has the only record I can look at (compared to Trump).

Trump has never worked in office and has no record to criticize.

It’s easy to find fault with your opponent’s record when you have NONE to find fault with, because you have no record at all.

But I have enormous doubts about Trump and the way he will govern.

Cruz hasn’t yielded, yet.

[ Ted isn’t this stupid. He’s got more bad people on his team feeding him this stuff to repeat. He needs a new campaign manager. ]

Maybe he can hire Roger Stone...

People hear that meme all the time from Cruzkinz. How smart they are as opposed to others.

Cruz confirmed where they get that idea. From him.

Another thing to note is that Trump has essentially never spoken about liberty, freedom, the Constitution, or anything like that. He believes, like all good authoritarians, that government is the solution. His followers are the same, believing that when “their guy” is abusing the power of government, it’s fine, but when “the other guy” is doing it it’s bad.

Most people don’t understand their own hypocrisy. I get that. It’s not an easy thing to accept. I had to recently accept that many people simply CANNOT think for themselves or manage their own lives and they actually WANT government to do it for them. Trump is simply leading these people by selling them what they want to buy.
