This is why polls constantly show Cruz beating Trump one-on-one. Trump has won all along because of a splintered vote. He cannot even get a majority of Republican primary voters and 65% of the national electorate will not vote for him

Way to beat Hillary!!

Cruz cant win majority support on his own.

He needs people to vote for him based on just hate for Trump. Most people dont support Cruz because they like him.

Way to beat Hillary!!

If Cruz were a good choice, he wouldn’t need others to drop out. He’d win all on his own like trump is doing.

Neither has Cruz. You Cruz supporters use New Math.

When has Cruz been above 50%? Sheesh! If you take 100% of Rubio’s support, 100% of Carson's support, a smidgeon of Christie's support, Cruz will win. No wonder the Republicans don't know how to pass a reasonable budget.

This is the same thing that happened four years ago. Romney kept winning primaries with around 35 percent because Santorum and Gingrich kept splitting thg vote.

65% is fair because after Occupy Ted exposed himself over the Chicago clashes very few Trump supporters will vote for him in November.

I can think of at least 4 recent polls that show something very different. You're embarrassing yourself with this behavior across the forum.

Trump will beat Hillary.

My FL vote was already cast a week ago today for Trump.

After Friday night and the long knives attacks against Trump over the weekend, blaming him for BLM and communist violence, I wish I could go vote for him again and again, to show support against the hordes of rioters, and the so-called “consistent conservatives” who have taken the side of Hillary Clinton against the frontrunner.

GO TRUMP!

Hillary is not engendering passion (as shown by turnout), and is being dogged by a 74 year old avowed socialist. Way to beat the Republicans!!

Why do you say that 65% of the electorate will not vote for Trump? How do you know its not 65% of the electorate does not voting for Cruz?

If polls are good enough to conclude what you conclude, why have elections?

Of course you are free to draw what ever conclusion you want but beware that the polls are manipulated. After they get the data they extrapolate from a small sample to a larger population. How well this is done is what makes the polls inaccurate.

At issue with the concept you propose is that in actuality, the general election will be decided by whoever opposes Hillary and the hypothetical match up between Trump and Cruz will not play the slightest role.

A majority of Cruz supporters, a quarter of Rubio supporters and around twenty percent of Lasich supporters would back Trump if any of them dropped out. Trump would have a majority in any scenario. It is absolutely wrong to believe that all voters of Kasich, Rubio or Cruz would migrate to any one of the others en masse. Many of Kasich and Rubio supporters would never support Cruz social positions. Each have a constituency that find the others unacceptable. Some would just not vote. That just increases the odds of the person in the lead to win.

I have family members in TX who are very adamant Cruz supporters now, but if Trump wins the nomination, they will be fierce Trump supporters. I don’t see your point.

If Cruz had that populism that surrounds Trump and that “ring” of truth attraction (which Cruz comes off as a snake salesman—and I HATE the connections to the Cheney bunch (Rice and Iraq war) that his wife has always had for decades which is extremely suspicious. Cruz “controlled”-—hmmmmmmm....maybe. He does not have millions/billions to control anything for himself-—he is bought by someone/controlled by someone else and I don’t like his connections with Bushies now-—very evil nazi-satanic “family”—no different than the Clintons.

The “outside the box” personality of Trump is REFRESHING-—and it is ATTRACTIVE to the masses-—Trump is not remotely controlled by anyone else (no NWO-—and he understands the destruction that this bush-Clinton cabal has done). The destruction of Western Civilization has to be turned around-—that Christian White male is being eliminated off the face of the earth-—and this “Christian God” on the sleeve of Cruz is VERY suspicious.

65% of the national electorate will not vote for him

Even if true, it does't matter in the least. 35% support is more than enough to win enough states.

Your assumption might be flawed. A lot of supporters of one of them (Rubio or Cruz) wouldn't go to the other. A lot of disillusioned Cruz supporters will go to Trump.

Who knows where disillusioned Rubio supporters will go? I'd wager some would go to Trump because of his businesses and part time residence there.

“This is why polls constantly show Cruz beating Trump one-on-one. ..”

Polls also show Hillary beating Trump one on one.

However, polls show Cruz either beating, or about matching Hillary, one on one.

Cruz cannot win FL or OH in this election or any other, therefore a vote for Cruz is always a vote for the Dem.
