Neither the Rats nor the GOP* want Trump on the ballot.
IMO, that “want” will become fait accompli by the end of the convention in Cleveland and short of a putsch, there ain’t a damned thing that can be done about it.
(*)nota bene, I purposley did NOT say GOPe.
Here we go
Unfortunately, that's the bottom line. As I noted earlier (post #13), most GOP delegates must vote for whoever won their state primaries.
But that's only under current rules. Those rules could change tomorrow.
Apparently, the GOP doesn’t care if it loses the Election AND its base. Just as long as they keep the $$ from the donors flowing....
Anyone know the names on the “RULES” committee? We need to let them know what WE think.
The real question is:
What are these donors getting for their money?
What has the RNC promised the donors?
I think Rule 16 determines the binding of the delegate

In most countries the person to represent a party in a general election is selected by the party leaders NOT the general populous. Primaries are still relatively new even in the US to select presidential candidates.
The parties can pretty much come up with its own rules to select the candidate they want. It is their party and we as Americans are free to support the party or not.
The GOPe just needs to understand that if they steal the nomination, the party will break apart. It will not win a national election again. I have never voted for someone who is not a Republican before in my life. If they steal the nomination, I will limit my voting in the future to deciding between the Constitution Party, the Libertarian Party, and clear-cut, demonstrably anti-establishment Republicans. I will also write in “Donald Trump” in November, if they steal the nomination from him. I’m not going to award our abusers any longer, if they shaft us on a scale this large.
I will tell you a true story. In 1996 I ran the Keyes campaign in my county in Iowa, Linn County. Of his 7% statewide vote 5% came from this county. We get to the state convention and we have to decide who the delegates were to go to the National Convention. I was the chairman of that committee. We got in a room with all the pro-life, pro-family leaders and decided who would go to the convention. Every person had to be conservative and pro-life. We left Jim Leach, a sitting congressman, off the list as a delegate. We had the delegates voted on at the state convention and it carried overwhelmingly. As I left the stage ten to twenty people stopped me and told me in very vivid language what I could do to myself and in some instances what I could do with my mother.
This weekend I attended my county convention and the people going to state are just as conservative. My guess is there will be 0.0 GOPe going to the convention as delegates. In fact we don't decide until mid June so we will know if we need to really ensure strong Conservatives.
Anyway I am very sure a conservative candidate will be out nominee.
Is this true? I never followed a primary before. What’s going on?
States may arrest any delegate who does not vote the way he is required to by law.
Then why have a primary? Just let the party decide. Of course, that’s what has happened since 1988.
The point of ALL voting is to fool the people into thinking they are self-governed.
I was convinced that no vote counts. Then the Florida recount came along and I thought “I guess each vote does count.” Now I’m starting to think that maybe the Florida recount was a ruse to make us think our votes count. Maybe too many were starting to figure it out.
I KNOW my vote didn’t count in 2008 and 2012.
I agree. Then Obama can declare martial law and suspend the elections. And the one world government will be assured. God, I’m glad I’m old.
