I got a buddy that lives down in the bayou. The swamp has been very swampy this year.

Lord God, protect Thy servants in the town of Herbert and other areas affected. Forgive us our sins, o Lord, and give courage to the people of Louisiana.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.

Not True. Rumors fly, but no levees breached

This is like the other day I was watching a pirated online of Fox News. All of a sudden an emergency broadcast came on saying North Korea had shot off a missile and would be hitting LA. I posted it and shortly some Freepers showed me it was a YouTube video that had been produced in 2011.

Thanks for the update. The levee did NOT break (yet?), but is being overtopped with one to two feet of water causing flooding and mandatory evacuation.

Is it Herbert or Hebert? If Hebert, you should ask the mod to correct the title.

Been living near Bayou Lafourche most of my life. Bayou Lafourche rarely floods in the spring. The worst was the great flood of 73, then tropical storm Juan in 85, and now.

I think the best part of your link is that you close the chosen article, and it says ‘Levee breached’ as the headline right underneath it.

Probably Hebert ( pronounced “A-Bear”)

Here is another link on this story. I saw on the news that some places in the south have gotten as much as 24 inches of water.

As if a dam break isn’t bad enough, now they have to evacuate 500 prisoners. All kinds of potential for trouble.

The people in this area have gone above and beyond to help their neighbors. Northern Louisianas are good people. I’ve been lucky enough to have a house on a hill and haven’t had to worry, but I’ve had family and friends in danger of losing their homes. Please keep them all in your prayers.

If it keeps on rainin', levee's gonna break.

This is the worst flood in ages around here. I’ve heard a lot of people who weren’t considered to be in flood zones and didn’t get flood insurance are watching their homes flood. The last time there was flooding on this scale was in the early 90’s, but I don’t think that even compared to what is happening now.
