Ted Cruz: Donald Trump sees protesters as disloyal people who must be punished
Washington Times ^ | March 14, 2016 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 03/14/2016 10:13:32 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people worthy of punishment and that the best response to Mr. Trump is to defeat him at the ballot box, reiterating his own pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee in the fall.

Mr. Cruz re-upped criticism of Mr. Trump for recently having rally attendees pledge their support to him, likening it to an action kings and queens demand of their subjects.

“It’s also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone who’s a protester is disloyal and must be punished,” Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.

“The only pledge that I am interested in, the only hand-raising that I’m interested in is on January 20, 2017, when I hope to raise my right hand with my left hand on the Bible and pledge to each and every one of you that I will preserve, protect [and] defend the Constitution and fight for the hard-working taxpayers,” Mr. Cruz said.

“That is a question the voters are asking: At what point do we say ‘enough is enough?’ ” Mr. Cruz said. “If Donald Trump is the nominee, he is a disaster, and the answer is to beat him.”

OH really?

Oh really?

Fearing for your country, huh?

Let me tell you what I fear.

Last Friday, liberal thugs staged disruption at one of Trump’s rallies. But the thing is that it wasn’t disruption and it wasn’t a protest.

What was happening was a literal terror attack.

There were injuries, but the attackers refused to allow ambulances in to care for the injured. These thugs literally wounded people, caused great property damage, and screamed obscenities at people, and why? To scare them. To cause terror. A literal terror attack against people who came to hear Trump speak.

The response from the lefties was more of the same; what can I expect from them?

But when I listened to ‘consistent conservative’ Cruz, not to mention the other two people who were going for the highest office in the land?

Lip service to condemn the ‘protestors’ and then spending at least three times as much time attacking Trump (and, implied, the people who agree with Trump) and telling the world that Trump AND, implied, the people who just wanted to hear him speak had it coming. And worse, Cruz doubled down on his comments today.

What do you think is going to happen now that they not only see that these tactics work, but all three of Trump’s opponents on the political side are going to blame him for continued attacks while only paying lip service to rule of law?

IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

And now, on top of all that, I have people who CLAIM to be conservatives taunting me and calling me a liar and nitpicking my posts in order to defend Cruz’s statements.

So, in retrospect, fear is not the word for what I’m feeling now.

I’M OUTRAGED.

Insulting Trump’s supporters by calling them “fools” is not going to get support for Cruz.

Nothing I could say would change your mind. I’ve seen it before. I call it like I see it. Marks often embrace the con. Too painful.

Funny thing is after all the lies from DT and supporters re Cruz, he’s DT supporter’s second choice. So I guess they know it’s really BS.

OTOH Cruz supporters are a big part of the Never Trump movement. It’s a movement of the base not GOP. So I guess Cruz supporters really do believe what they say re DT.

One day DT will say bout ‘liar Cruz’ same thing he just said bout Dr Carson being “pathological” it was just “politics”

DT staged the whole thing. he picked a venue unlike one’s he’s ever picked deliberately. He’s a media whore and grabbed the spotlight for the next 48 hours. He bumped Cruz town hall on Hannity. He got just what he wanted.

“Literal terror attack” uh huh. Guess you should have been in NYC on 9/11.

DT deserved the criticism. He’s inciting violence if not actually in the legal meaning, certainly morally repugnant. Cruz was correct to point out that he bears a part of the responsibility.

Your point about “supporters had it coming” is a fabrication not supported by anything Cruz said.

No the “CLAIM” of conservative is yours to prove since you are supporting someone as left as Hillary with the same lying conniving nature.

And if DT is worried it will happen again (a claim I don’t believe in any way shape or form) he knows how to calm the waters. He’s told us he’s the uniter, he gets along with everyone including Pelosi, Schumer, Reid, Al Sharpton, Hillary.

Spare me your faux outrage. Your backing a liar and con man.

One more thing, Ben Shapiro just went to a hostile university that had threatened him, tried to ban him, browbeat him. He went without secret service. They mobbed him, turned on the fire alarm. Yet for the sake of free speech he did it and spoke.

He didn’t cancel, he didn’t whine, he didn’t act like a martyr, he just did it. DT is a fraud.

“Cruz said Monday that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump views protesters as disloyal people “

To call people “DIS-loyal” makes the assumption that at some point in time the people had been on board with Trump, i.e., “loyal”. None of the freak rioters had ever been on board with Trump so they couldn’t possibly be DIS-loyal.

For an allegedly smart man, he sure does pull some boners.

One good thing did result from Cruz coming out against the First Amendment, though. My sister and I had been so upset that our mom was pro Cruz and hated Trump. But because of what Cruz did — blamed Trump for the riots — she has come over from the Dark Side. She’s 92, but doesn’t miss a thing. Her ancestors’ blood was shed to get this country started and she doesn’t appreciate it when someone messes with the Constitution.

YOU are the one who is okay with terror attacks being carried out on people because they voted for the ‘wrong’ political candidate, not me.

I’ll take my vulgarity over your ‘classiness’ any day.

I will speak to you no more; you are not worth my time.

“It’s also reflected in his treatment of protesters, where anyone who’s a protester is disloyal and must be punished,” Mr. Cruz told reporters in Illinois ahead of the March 15 primary there.

To all those who said Cruz didn't say he sided with the protesters, explain this one away.

And again I say, does Ted think he won't get exactly the same protest treatment should he be the nominee?

Well, he IS right. Most of his protestors are not merely disagreeing with him but anything from flag-burning traitors to batsh!t insane to boot who need anything from a beating to a stay in a nuthouse to deportation to Cuba. A good many of them are dusted-off leftovers from the era of PBI (Bush Protest Insanity).

I’m sure Cruz would’ve opposed TPA if he felt that TPP would pass.

Wow like his vote on the Senate immigration bill that passed.

You are deluded, the only way to make sure it won't pass was not to vote cloture on TPA. I am not interested in what he thinks might happen I am concerned on how he voted.

Not sure if it’s been posted, the second presidential debate is at Wright State. Scheduled for September 26.

Guy that rushed the stage should be in jail, he’ll probably be in the audience.

That stunt was a setup for the future I believe after he was on cnn (to try and divide conquer, riot, whathaveyou)

That excerpt that pinkbell posted is NOT what the article says, and it is NOT in quotes.

This is how it is stated in the article that is at the link. Which the whole article is completely different then the excerpts posted. Go click on the Washington Times link and read the whole article that is there.

This is what is stated in the article:

Earlier Monday, Mr. Cruz said such a sentiment was also evident in Mr. Trump’s treatment of protesters, where anyone who’s a protester is seen as disloyal.
