A masked man burst into a 7-Eleven near Seattle early Sunday morning, swinging a hatchet and slicing the store clerk.
Before the masked man could seriously hurt anyone, though, a customer who was drinking his morning coffee pulled out a concealed weapon and fatally shot the attacker.
Authorities did not name the attacker or the customer, but they did hail the concealed weapon owner as a hero.
"This could have been disastrous," King County Sheriff Sgt. Cindi West told KIRO7. "Had this guy not shot, who knows what would have happened? We might have a dead clerk right now, and instead we have a dead bad guy."
The clerk, Kuldeep Singh, suffered minor cuts to his stomach. He, too, thanked the customer for saving his life.
"He [was] killing me," Singh, 58, said of the hatchet-wielding attacker. Singh added that the customer was a "nice guy."
West said that the incident will be investigated fully but that the 60-year-old customer was currently being considered a Good Samaritan.
The "customer, the shooter, is shaken up but from everything that we see right now from the scene theres no wrongdoing on his part," she told King 5. "In fact, he probably saved a life in this case."

FLUSH! HAZMAT Cleanup Isle 14!
Thank You Citizen:;)
Don’t bring a hatchet to a gun fight.
Singh?...............Hmm, I thought Sikhs always had knives on them........................
Why are you withholding this information, mainstream media!?
“If they bring a knife (or work in a 7-11), you bring a hatchet, and get in their face” said once upon a time by the boy Marxist.
I have never understood why owners of such stores do not mount a 12 gauge shotgun under the counter. Just high enuff to make sure this guy can never reproduce.
Anyone get Mohammed’s last name?
“Meanwhile, the motive for the bizarre, early-morning attack may never be known. The masked attacker is believed to have been in his 40s, according to authorities. His identity will be released at a future date.”
See they are going to release his name..... sometime later.... yea later.... we swear.....
Wow that was fast! Of course they did swear..... haha
A hatchet could be considered traditional weaponry..
It was certainly used by all sides in the revolutionary war period...
It is definitely covered by the Second Amendment.
Sikhs, especially in the US, lean heavily to pacifism, which is odd in that they are a very pro-military religion, and are descended from the military caste of India. And though they have to carry knives, many of them are content to carry knives that are just a few inches in length, including their handle, and are permanently affixed in their sheath.
They really need to be persuaded to again carry full length knives, and since they have no objection to guns, to carrying them as well, as is their right as Americans.
Hatchet or Tomahawk ? The criminal looks to be off the reservation ??
A tomahawk is just a type of hatchet...
