The pick sets up a confrontation with Republicans who say they will refuse to consider his nomination in an election year. [confrontation] == [opportunity to surrender]

Orrin Hatch said no Vote
I am wondering if the GOP is planning on blowing itself up , he may not be a bad pick better than Hillary.

After the announcement, the GOP will do nothing. (As they should)

Obama chose the Jewish guy over the Hindu guy, and he couldn’t find a Muslim guy.
GOP should slowly pretend to consider him, referred to minor sub-subcommittee to investigate how to bork him.

My humble guess is that they may delay this for six weeks, but a vote will occur by mid-May and two Republicans will cast with the Democrats.
A second guy will come up by early June, and face another delay....probably until August. By that point, there will probably be five Republican Senators to side with the Democrats.
If anyone really felt hostility over these Republicans....then recall them and let them know that they need to hustle up money for another unscheduled election. See how they feel about that.

This would be incredibly stupid for pubbies to do. But then, one has to wonder what if...Clinton wins and brings in a dem senate.

Just remember the GOP said no vote until “after the election”.....so is the date after the election - Nov 5th or after the next Pres takes office Jan 22nd..... I am thinking Nov 5th, they are not above screwing us!

I post the link so you can remind your Dem friends.
Why would I want to remind my Dem "friends?"
Who are my Dem "friends?"

What are the chances that, after all these years of broken promises, the GOP will take a stand here and not forward the nomination?
I'd say it is zero, and this clown will be the next SC justice. Prepare yourself emotionally for this, the GOP is not done with destroying itself and betraying it's core constituents.

Orrin Hatch is the number one caver.
I just checked his Facebook page to see what kind of feedback he's getting. His second most recent post is this
Today is the day we choose which direction our nation will go. With Mitt Romney as President, America can come roaring back and return to greatness. Please cast your vote for Mitt Romney and Orrin Hatch today and let's get this country back on track.
