Breaking: Cruz Negotiating With Trump for VP Spot
A high ranking Cruz campaign official has told Elect Leaders that Sen. Cruz is in negotiations with Mr. Trump to become his Vice Presidential Nominee after Rubio dropped out Tuesday. Sen. Cruz has been the most consistent performer in primaries behind Trump. They are seeing the writing on the wall and want to negotiate from a point of strength which will evaporate over time.
The official stated Mr. Trump is interested in using Sen. Cruz’s ground game in the general election, likes his appeal to the conservative base and his stance on immigration. Of the other options for VP none hold as strong of an opinion on immigration outside of Governor Jan Brewer from Arizona who is also being considered.
Senator Cruz in exchange for his support is wanting to be named to the Supreme Court if an opening occurs while Mr. Trump is president. Mr. Trump does not see this as an issue and a small price to pay to bring Sen. Cruz his fundraisers, donors and staff on board
I think Chris Christi has dibs on Atty general. Something he said at one of the rallies just kinda put that in my mind .
Good analysis. I personally don’t think it’s real because there’s been some real animosity between the two in recent months. Besides how could Trump campaign with a VP pick who is on record saying his presidency would be a “disaster”?
No it’s not happening. Maybe they may broker a deal come convention time for Cruz to throw his support behind Trump in exchange for a SC nomination. I could see that. But I don’t think Trump is going to need his support at that time quite frankly.

Remember when Yeb was going to meet with all candidates except Trump before the last debate? Somehow that didn’t work out /s. So then he was going to meet with all of them before Super Tues II. repeat

McCain and Romney did not win because they were moderates. McCain had a war record, Romney had money and Mormons.
McCain and Trump also benefit from their age. GOP primary voters are 50 on average. It’s hard for any candidate younger than the average voter age to win. People don’t want to elect a younger “leader.”

This is a sleazy maneuver on the part of Cruz. He is selling a victory speech with one side of his mouth and trying to negotiate a cushy job with the other.

How stupid (or calculating) must you be to make the following post which is right along the lines of what I posted that you emoted against! ... “Believe it or not, he needs the millions of Republicans who support RINO candidates to support Trump, or he’s doomed.” Uniting the voters, those millions you are now acknowledging are ‘out there’ is what I wrote. As ro eligibility trump was for it before he was aginst it. So trump would have to flop his flip and say cruz is eligable to be president to make him vp.

I know this won’t happen but if it were true they should immediately leave the republican party and run on an Independent ticket.

A lot of disinformation has been put out about his fortune. People want to believe what they want to believe.
Trump has been brilliant in his manipulation of the media cartel. Reagan also had that gift, but it required a different touch in 1980. The culture and media have changed a great deal since then.

This would be the Dems’ wet dream. Cruz isn’t NBC. Get him anywhere near this ticket and we’ll be tied up in court for months in the future. After eight years of angst with Hussein, this is the last thing we need — more chaos.
I like Cruz (as a Senator), but his recent choices are hard to overlook, even in the heat of a presidential campaign. More worrisome, I think adding Cruz to the ticket may kill a good percentage of the moderate/independent support that Trump now enjoys. I’ve been mulling this scenario for weeks, and just don’t see where he Ted a net positive, now.
In several of those instances, there were left-wingers at both the top and bottom.

Reagan would've won regardless. Bush brought nothing to the ticket. As it turned out, it was a terrible choice that continued an imbecilic four-generation dynasty of entitled RINOs.

I omitted 1964 because no Republican nominee would've won in the wake of the assassination. It also took 1964 to start to invigorate a stale, moribund, left-leaning party at the grassroots beginning with the 1966 elections. Eisenhower was an utter fiasco for the GOP and set it back to its worst standing since FDR's first two terms. His personal popularity in 1952 would've caused him to win regardless, though it would've been better had he run as the Democrat he was. It would've been better for Conservatives to have countered with Taft-MacArthur on the GOP ticket. As for 1968, that was a bare win (Agnew, a former leftist RINO, was a convert to Conservatism, but wasn't, on the whole, particularly helpful - he didn't even carry MD for the ticket). In the end, Nixon turned into an utter fiasco as Eisenhower did, for the GOP. Too bad Reagan couldn't have been the nominee in '68, even if he wasn't seasoned enough. If term limits hadn't been enacted, he'd have been perfect to have served for 4 terms, from 1969 to 1985 when he was at his prime.

Guess what, Hoss ? Pandering to the left doesn't work for the GOP. If it did, ringers like McQueeg and Willard the Rat would've won in landslides. BTW, there's little evidence that people vote for VPs these days when they hail from the establishment. Ryan, a RINO puppet, brought nothing. Conversely, Palin managed to net McQueeg some votes, to his utter horror, since he was, after all, the designated loser. Trump needs to reach out to the RIGHT, to those concerned he may go native in DC. Cruz fits the bill to a "T." Going with a leftist, big gubmint, send the jobs to Mejico, open borders Soros puppet and sex predator like Pig Vomit Kay-Sick in Ohio, is the perfect way to help SINK the ticket.
Bernie for VP!
It would split the dem vote in half.
It would represent an existential threat to the entire democrat party.
It might convert millions of future young democrat voters into millions of Trump supporters.
As VP, Bernie would have no power, and he would probably not survive the eight year terms. Even so, he would not be the heir apparent at the end.
It would severely piss off the GOPe, almost as much as they have pissed me off over the last thirty years.
All of this is silly of course, but what a scenario it would make!
No more claims of Trump being a divisive candidate.
Senator Cruz should remain in the Senate, if he doesn’t bump Trump. There are so few good conservatives left in Congress. Besides, does anyone think that Ted would get serious consideration from Mitch in the Senate for SCOTUS after the terrible things Ted has said about him on the senate floor?
