John Boehner backs Paul Ryan for president, calls Ted Cruz ‘Lucifer’

Former House Speaker John A. Boehner said current Speaker Paul D. Ryan should be the Republican nominee for president if the party fails to chose a candidate on the first ballot at its national convention this summer in Cleveland.

SNIP

Mr. Boehner, who stepped down from the speakership last fall, has long whispered to friends that he thinks Mr. Ryan could be the savior of the Republican Party. He told the crowd Wednesday that “anybody can be nominated” at the Republican National Convention.

During the same question-and-answer session in Florida, Mr. Boehner referred to Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, another Republican presidential candidate, as “Lucifer.”

If that is not the best endorsement anyone can get then I don’t know what is. Usually you need to kiss some ass to get a recommendation like that from Blue Label Boner but here it was given freely and without qualification.

Is this based on Ryan’s great debate performance against Biden in the 2012 election?

It’s a really entertaining show. Do you watch it? If so, where do you think that are going with the wings?

He’s still a congressman, isn’t he? Just not speaker anymore. I don’t like him.

Get real. The GOPe’s will use Cruz to try to stop Trump and discard
him after they are done with him.

I agree 100%

Beohner picked a heck of a time to endorse Cruz...
Ted could have used that on Monday.

With the flak that both Trump and Cruz are taking from the Establishment, in my opinion, I believe that the best ticket would be Trump as Prez and Cruz as VP. If Trump dies in office (he's getting up there in age), Cruz takes over. Or, if Trump serves one or two terms, Cruz is then available as a VP groomed to take over in the subsequent terms (something that Schrub never did).

Either that or make Cruz the next Supreme. The establishment might like that, it would get him out of their hair.

Ordinarily you're calling Ted 'establishment'.

On threads like these you shift to 'nobody likes Ted'.

You folks sure are nimble. Or is it ethically flexible?

At one point, Cruz acted as Boehners’ private counsel.

Beelzebub Boehner calls Cruz ‘’Lucifer.’’
As the former President of Venezuela would put it, Boehner’s Capitol Hill office smelled of sulfur.

I'm sure Boehner has never cracked open a Bible in his life, but he should read a few of these verses:

"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
John 15:18

18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
John 3:18-19

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
Isaiah 5:20

Cruz still has a chance at the 1237 delegates, although it is admittedly slim. If he goes the distance and fails the scenario will be just as you describe. At this point I am hoping that Trump can cut a deal with Cruz and get this thing wrapped up.

The media outlets are maximizing their profits is one way to look at it.

We only get a gully washer of a PR/ad campaign like this cycle every so often.

So many eager to be players.. And suckers.

Yup, lots of dough to be had.

Just one of the prices we pay for the freedoms we still have left.

But we could do beter, so much better.
