If a runner gets 3/4 of the way around the track, does the get the trophy, or must he first cross the finish line?
I guess it depends on what the rules are before they start the race.
If he's Romney, he gets the trophy for getting 3/4 of the way around the track. LOL! :)
He wins if the rst of the field only gets halfway...
BTW, terrible analogy...
That depends...was he knee-capped and still was ahead of everyone else? Then yes the trophy is his.
Wrong analogy. This is more of a 'close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades (and political conventions)' analogy.
If a horse shows up lame or doesn’t start, should he win?
If no one else gets close to 3/4, I would say yes that runner wins.
Your analogy doesn’t hold water.
We are talking numbers of votes not finish lines.
Somebody with zero votes could still cross the finish line first.
“If a runner gets 3/4 around the track does he get the trophy...”
In this politically correct world, he’d get a trophy. Ironically, Trump supporters vote for him because he’s not politically correct, but those same supporters now are arguing that it wouldn’t be politically correct for him to be denied the nomination even if he doesn’t get 50% of the delegates.
Good point but we live in the era of fuzzy facts.
It isn’t that kind of race. If Trump doesn’t make it to the finish line, nobody else will have either. At that point, it is reasonable to look at who got closest to the finish line. This is especially true because the GOPe is obviously bribing John kasick to stay in the race to prevent anyone from getting to the finish line.
