If a runner gets 3/4 of the way around the track, does the get the trophy, or must he first cross the finish line?

Getting a majority of the votes of the delegates to win the nomination has only been the rule in the Republican Party since they nominated Fremont in 1856. Getting the most votes has never been the rule. I hope in vain that some low information people may pick up a book on American History and actually read it, and hopefully understand it. I hope also that the book’s reading level is above “Rush Revere”.
