The possibility you did not mention is a contested convention, with multiple votes until there is a winner. Brokered seems unlikely, because the alternatives to Cruz and Trump have been soundly rejected already.
The GOPe doesn't care, that much should be clear by now.
Frankly, it’s sad that Cruz can’t see how he is being used.
When this is all over, the GOPe will throw a 20 on the bed and say, “Thanks doll”.

It doesn’t matter. CA is a winner take all state, and Ted Cruz has both the anti-establishment and establishment conservatives endorsing him over Donald Trump. If Ted Cruz wins some more primaries and takes CA, it may be game over for Trump. And the game could conclude with either a win by delegates generated by popular vote, or a close delegate battle that goes to a contested convention. Ted still has the possibility to win either way.
