Cruz pushed for doubling of immigrants, including Muslims, to 1.67M PER YEAR
The Washington Examiner ^ | 3/22/2016 | Paul Bedard

Plans pushed by GOP presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz under the immigration reform debate in 2013 would have jumped the number of immigrants, including those from Muslim nations, by doubling green card caps and boosting temporary worker visas five-fold.

Under the Cruz plan, yearly legal immigration would have gone from 740,000 to 1,675,000.

Well before Donald Trump drew a line on Muslim immigrants following a wave of terror attacks, highlighted by Tuesday's deadly blasts in Belgium, Cruz's suggested changes to the so-called Gang of Eight legislation would have also created a family green card category and lifted the per-country caps on immigrants.

A lifting of those caps would have opened the doors to more Muslim immigrants from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and other nations known for harboring terrorists.

Secrets recently reported that the administration has approved more immigrants from Muslim nations over the next five years than the entire population of Washington, D.C.

Figures from the Department of Homeland Security show that the president has already issued 680,000 green cards to immigrants from Muslim nations over the past five years. Unless Congress changes his policy, that number will be repeated in the next five years.

Under the Cruz amendments, shown in full below, the yearly cap on green cards would have increased from 675,000 to 1.35 million, not including refugees and asylees.

Ted Cruz is reactive.

Donald Trump is proactive.

We need Trump now, more than ever.

Exactly- the poison pill. Cruz knew that proposing the caps removal would kill support for the bill.

Which it did.

True.

Twitter is lit up with...”Cruz is following Trump again.”

SMH.

Irrelevant.

FR is now a fact-free Trump-is-always-right spin zone.

Are we still acting like we don’t know those were poison pill amendments?

Well isn't that convenient. So were cruz's efforts to get TPA passed also a poison pill, or how about his support for the corker bill? Just what we need, another 1st term senator that will not take responsibility for anything.

He did take responsibility for that. He’s made no secret of any of it.

If Trump can change his mind about ANYTHING (e.g. abortion, healthcare, H1-B, you name it), then Cruz HAS changed his mind on what he said way back in the past.

Consider this from December 2015:

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/12/07/sens-cruz-paul-call-end-muslim-immigration-rubio-ignores-issue/

_______________________________________

Presidential candidates Sens. Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Rand Paul are demanding a halt to immigration from Muslim nations with jihadist movements.

Their fellow contender, Sen. Marco Rubio, did not call for curbs to Muslim immigration in his live response to the President address on Fox News – a response promoted by Rubio’s campaign.

Cruz tweeted that if elected president, “I will shut down the broken immigration system that is letting jihadists into our country.” Cruz elaborated in a statement:

The President should place an immediate moratorium on refugees from countries with a significant al Qaeda or ISIS presence, such as Syria. I’ve introduced legislation to make this happen; it is not a desired step, but a necessary step for the security of the United States.

Yes, at the time Cruz was advocating for this policy. Then he heard testimony from Disney employees and changed his mind.

Yes, Trump advocated a freeze in immigration, until a few weeks ago when he “softened” on that issue and now advocates increasing H1B1 visas....

If it was such a terrible policy for Cruz to support, then it should be equally as terrible for Trump. Somehow, I doubt that will be very clear in this thread tho.

When Cruz admits a mistake (TPP), do you take that as good reason to charge him with using effective strategy AGAINST illegal immigration as showing that he is FOR illegal immigration?

Why don’t you go ahead and call us what you really feel...

In your eyes, you probably view us as traitors to the republic.

Should we be round up in camps if your demigod pulls one over on enough and takes office?

Maybe that’s too far...
but on the day of a terror attack, you call Cruz and us Isis lovers...
**************************

Thank you. I don’t wade into the swamp that FR has become very often anymore, but I came here today to see stories and comments about Belgium. I’m saddened to see that there just isn’t much about that.

But there is plenty about wanting blacklists, hate conservatives, ends justifies the means arguments and on and on.

And now, if you don’t support a certain candidate, then you are an ISIS lover! The foaming at the mouth rabidness is disgusting.

Cruz is unraveling. There were the teddy bears with Beck, and I gave him a pass. Then he fought dirty against Carson, and I remained silent. But his lies kept going out of control. When he blamed Trump for Chicago, that was the last straw. Now I keep seeing a pathetic Cruz unable to get Trump out of his head, attacking him whenever he is asked about unrelated events and even during the speech yesterday. Cruz no longer sounds quite normal.

I simply cannot understand why all of the world’s leaders are bowing down to islam.

Thank you for your concern but I am blissful in my support of the only authentic person running for President. Refrshingly, he has never denied his donations to both parties...and might I note here that the majority of hos money has gone to republicans....all to them over the last 5 years.

Needs to be shouted far and wide. Utah needs more robo calls today

Utah was over when the Dog Torturer sang. Mitt Romney's endorsement sealed the deal by the Mormon Mafia.

Its getting disgusting...

I have been here for years and the level of rhetoric being exhibited is abhorrent.

In years past this would not be tolerated... the community as a whole would shut those nutjobs down. Instead, the division is so extreme, its acceptable.

Can you please provide some specific evidence to support your assertion that Cruz and the FReeper are ISIS lovers? That is a pretty strong allegation.
