Reviewers trashed Donald Trumps first book. They dismissed The Art of the Deal as self-promotional pap. They called the author a huckster. The mans lack of taste is as vast as his lack of shame, said the Washington Post. Fortune noted his shallowness and pomposity and his need for more money, more toys and more attention. The book, said The New Republic, is a weapon in the continuing public relations war that is Donald Trumps way of doing business.

The redux of emptying Cuba’s prison scheme on America.
Well, by reading the responses to this article it is very apparent to me the article will change no one’s mind. For those in love with Trump, do not dismiss the article. There are a lot of historical public record facts in it, not speculation. Two things I found interesting were:
1. When all of these acquisitions went tits up in the early 90’s and he was leveraged 900 million from his personal fortune of a little over 1 billion at the time, according to the articles one of the key things that saved him was the fact that the banks were leveraged for so much so they were willing to work with him. In other words, he was so ostentatious even though the deals were bad on their face, the banks went right along with him. My analysis, they had went against their better judgments because they believed in Trump so much. This may help in some small way to explain the Trump phenomena today.
2. When he was on the verge of claiming bankruptcy in the early 90’s the reason he didn’t have to is he got money from his Dad and siblings. Analysis, oh that I had a Daddy Warbucks to go to when I’m in trouble, but I don’t.....
It's also true that his timing was wrong. We had just experienced the largest peacetime growth ever experienced in this country with no signs of a downturn in sight.
Even though this is true, it doesn't change the fact that he didn't just quit. He fought back and succeeded. With every success story their are stories of their failures along the way.
Like him, I won't dwell on his failures.
It was a world wide best seller and still is today.
Don't we all brother, don't we all!
Oh no, sorry I misspoke. It’s not on Salon, it’s on Slate.
Okay, thanks I will check that out.
Pffffffffffft. All spew, all the time.
Want on my spew ping list, cupcake?
it was intended as a compliment.
and you would not want me as your cupcake, dude. i would be too high maintenance for you, lol.
The premise of this article is to look at Trump’s worst period nearly 30 years ago, from which he learned a great deal and demonstrably changed course both personally and professionally, then skip over his recovery from mistakes that would have permanently sidelined or even killed most people, skip over all the successes in the 28 intervening years, and flatly conclude that the mistakes he made and learned from will be what we should fear and can expect if he gets the presidency.
LOL. Sorry.
I read your first post exactly backwards. The forum turns into a bar brawl every four years. I’m not usually a jerk - just ask my dog.
