An Impossible Choice Between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton
The Atlantic ^ | March 25, 2016 | Clare Foran |

Moderate Republicans up for re-election will face pressure to pick a side as the general election draws near.

Donald Trump looks increasingly likely to be the Republican nominee for the White House. As he gains momentum, Trump has won a series of endorsements from high-profile Republicans. Former presidential rivals Chris Christie and Ben Carson made the calculation that it’s better to be with Trump than against him, and so have a growing number of Republican members of Congress.

For many Republican lawmakers facing re-election in competitive moderate or swing districts, however, the prospect of Trump at the top of the ticket must be absolute agony.

Take Carlos Curbelo, a Florida Republican up for re-election in 2016 in a battleground congressional district. Curbelo is one of the most vulnerable members of the House GOP, so how is he handling Trump? He has spoken out against the Republican front-runner in the past, calling him “crass and insulting and offensive” and vowing not to support him if he wins the nomination. On Thursday, CBS Miami suggested that Curbelo might be willing to take his anti-Trump crusade a step further. “Republican Curbelo Open to Voting for Clinton,” its headline declared, as it reported that the lawmaker “has been telling some Democrats in his district he would vote for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump if those were his two choices, according to those who have spoken to him.”

Republicans who plan to vote for Hillary should re-register as Democrats and run as Democrats in the elections.

If Trump is the nominee (God forbid) with his 70% negatives and 33% under water with women, its all curtains for anyone who calls themselves conservatives.

It’s easy. Just don’t vote for the NYC liberal with legal troubles.

Are one of those “conservatives” who will vote for Hillary, if Trump is the R nominee?

Sorry — typing error.

I meant to ask: Are YOU one of those “conservatives” who plan to vote for Hillary, if Trump is the R nominee?

Sorry, but even though I despise Donald Trump, who in his own words (1998 interview) despises Republicans, the choice between Trump and Hillary is a slam-dunk: Trump every time!

Better the likely fool than the CERTAIN fool...

The (Deep State) of the Washington Insiders, the Clintons & the GOPe could be reason for the staying power of The Donald...

Not a tough choice for me at all. Hillary is the worst possible candidate. Trump (or Cruz) would be orders of magnitude better. Once the nomination is settled, assuming we are not betrayed by the GOPe, then emotions should cool and the nominee will get the vote of most republicans.

Donald Trump is much much closer to Representative Curbello’s supposed views and values than Hillary Clinton. If he thinks supporting Clinton over Trump makes sense, he’s a liar and does not truly hold the views he has espoused. He is a democrat IOW.

It’s a really easy choice. For all his faults, Trump is infinitely preferable to Hillary.

It’s not impossible. You vote for Trump without knowing what you’ll get with him as President. Or, you vote for Satan.

Only an extreme leftist would post this type of conclusion. There is a world of difference between them. Hillary has never accomplished anything or built anything; when she speaks she either screams or acts bored; she will not face reporters as Trump has; she is for open borders and wants more Muslims to come here; and in many more ways different from Trump.

I am not looking for the most likable candidate or the perfect candidate. I just want somebody who loves this country, can get things done, and closes our borders. Hillary has no love for the USA. Trump is clearly far superior to Hillary.

I think you are wrong on this. Trump has decided to become political and carry the conservative banner.

He is not a deep thinker of the idiot think tanks that have our nation in this mess.

He has a template to follow, and I believe he will do it.

The rest of DC left or right sure as hell isn’t following the template put in place by our Founders.

I think Trump will. He doesn’t need bureaucrats anymore.

I voted for Cruz in the primary and view Trump as about 80% positive and 20% negative,
but Mrs. Bill Clinton is nearly 100% negative so there’s no doubt who I’ll vote for if Trump is the nominee, and I think he will be.
