IRS Commissioner Admits Defeat - Due To Budget Squeeze IRS Now Poised To Lose $5 Billion Per Year
Forbes ^ | 03/26/2016 | Josh Ungerman

Posted on 03/26/2016 2:01:17 PM PDT by Kid Shelleen

Gone are the days of sophisticated tax plans offered by international accounting and law firms to their wealthiest clients which the IRS, with the benefit of hindsight, categorized as “tax shelters”. So why is Commissioner Koskinen raising the flag upside-down in a signal of distress in March of 2016? Tax practitioners all around the country know exactly why. Too many taxpayers and a handful of unscrupulous “tax practitioners” are taking advantage of the almost absolute absence of tax enforcement by the IRS.

Yes, “Joe the plumber” and other average taxpayers know that no-one is minding the store. What happens when the IRS is not there to rein in taxpayers? The answer is human nature. Will Rogers once said, “Income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf.” (For more such tax widsom, see this collection at irs.gov)

I thought IRS was pulling in record revenues every year..how does this square?

Or is it a pissy budget fight for the benefit of Congress?

So, how much did it cost the IRS to put that little gem of a web page online?

Maybe the IRS needs to stop its illegal activities and get back to doing its work.

What the IRS & the ignoramus who wrote this article call “tax shelters”, the hundreds of thousands of us who are educated and thus receive 100% completely constitutional refunds each year after intricate scrutiny of our tax returns, we call this, we call this liberty from tyranny by educating ourselves to the uniqueness of the ‘income excise’ tax. So as more and more Americans wake up to the truth of the lies about the income tax they have been told, the IRS loses more and more of its revenue each year.

And that is how one reigns in the beast, cut off the gravy and simply feed it that which the law defines as its diet!!!

The fair tax is not fair to those who have saved after tax money that they now want to spend.

That is a valid point I had not considered. But truth be told, my (maybe our) generation is going to have to pay a disproportionate amount of the bill for the excesses of generation X. It already started under Reagan with SS reform.

An individual “on the head” flat tax is unconstitutional. The current 16th Amendment income “A1,S8 EXCISE” tax, when applied as the law reads it is to be applied, is basically a benign tax that most are not subject to. Fix the misapplication of the law by reeducating the American citizenry as to the make & scope of the tax as it was prior to 1942 and then liberty from your self inflicted tyranny due to your ignorance of the law will return.

A1, S8 does not give Congress the authority to tax consumer goods. That authority resides with the states & the municipalities within the states. If you want to rid yourself of tyranny, learn what an “excise” tax is and what it applies to and then apply it to your earnings because that is what the income tax is, an “A1,S8 excise” tax that is limited in its scope. It does not apply to all that comes in unless all that comes in is connected to federal activity in the form of contracts, investments, employment, elected office, rent of federal land, etc, etc.

So the IRS is a huge bureaucracy that simply employs people to run political witch hunts, but is too understaffed and ineffective to collect taxes.

OK then. Shut it down.

So because you choose to be subject to it, then we all should be? Since educating ourselves, we have been very happy to keep our earnings in our bank account to be used at our discretion. We pay a lot of excise taxes due to the nature of our business, however, the ‘income’ excise tax is not one of them & prefer to leave it that way.

All you folks who think it is fitting and proper that every person must have some “skin” in the game, do you not realize that that is a communist policy?

Wonder how much extra work Obamacare is costing the IRS?

Managing the monstrosity and collecting penalties.

Likely a fatal flaw.

In January, I ordered 1099-DIV and 1099-INT forms. Three weeks later I got a card saying they were “temporarily out” of the forms; do not reorder. March 26, still no forms.

Did tax season just sneak up on those weasels? After 1040s, the INT and DIV 1099s are the most used forms.

Weasels! If our next president doesn’t abolish the IRS I’m calling for impeachment.
