Ted Cruz sex scandal story leaked to National Enquirer by Marco Rubio “ally,” not Donald Trump

Maybe Donald Trump isn’t behind the Ted Cruz “sex scandal” story leak to the National Enquirer after all.

According to The Daily Beast, “for months and months, anti-Cruz operatives have pitched a variety of #CruzSexScandal stories to a host of prominent national publications.”

One such outlet was Breitbart News, which was shown “a compilation video of Cruz and a woman other than his wife coming out of the Capitol Grille restaurant and a hotel on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” a source inside the publication told The Daily Beast. (Leave it to a politician to keep a standardized booty call schedule.)

The Breibart source confirmed that they’d received the video from “a Rubio ally,” but ultimately decided against running the story because, “There was no way to verify the claims.”

There is convincing evidence that the Rubio crew was behind this.

There is no evidence Trump was behind it.

But, Salon asks the pertinent question: Why the Rubio crew and why now?

I want Trump to crush Cruz, but I want him to crush Cruz on the issues.

Cruz knew two weeks ago the affairs story was coming. Tried to get Trump to react first to the now confirmed Cruz hitpiece on Malania . Thereby taking what was to be a Trump reaction, and blaming Trump for the 6-8 affairs story also Cruz.
But the Rubio / GOPe gang’s timing was off, now confirmed the affairs hit is out of Rubio’s team (read GOPe). They would have thrown Cruz under the bus after the useful tool was used to siphon off more delegates. Now Cruz will get zero down the stretch which only helps Trump.
Stands to reason, GOPe can’t do anything correct even shoot themselves in the head. And that...is the real story

Rubio is looking at 2020 and running for president in 2020 is a lot easier if a Democrat is in the White House.

I'm going to go with the suggestion I've made since this story broke: One of the many Bush operatives who have joined the Cruz campaign pushed the story to counter internal polling that showed that voters think that Cruz is extremely morally strict and as a way to damage the Trump campaign.

The whole thing just smells like their style. Then again, revenge by the Rubio operators after Cruz also beat Rubio in Florida is another motive.

Least likely is it coming from the Trump campaign - while he will brag about such extramarital flings, I sincerely doubt that he wants to really bring that to the forefront of the campaign.

Rubio was in the race at that point when the GOPe wanted him to go negative on both Trump and Cruz. Remember Rubio and Cruz went after eachother at the debate, and Rubio called Cruz a liar. Well Rubio called Cruz a liar before Trump did, Trump said Rubio calling Cruz a Liar gave him cover to call Cruz a liar, if you remember?

Cruz owes Trump an apology for buying the Pics of Melania and giving them to Liz to use. Jeff Roe should be fired for not first finding out who blabbed about Cruz affairs first, before the attacks on Melania.

This will help Trump with sympathy for being blamed when it was Rubio. Also, you always look good when you defend your wife’s honor. Will help Trump gain with Women. Women like a HERO defending his Lovely Wife.

The Rubio,campaign was pushing this from March 8th at least up to the Florida primary to hurt Cruz prior to Super TUesday but no one jumped on it. They backed off after the 15th but the info was already out there.

I'm thinking the GOPe wanted to hold the story close until the Convention...while Cruz continued to acquire a minority of delegates...and if Trump didn't have the 1,237 delegates to use it to negate Cruz as a option.

But once Enquirer got hold of it they blew the lid off quickly...and thereby ensuring a Trump first ballot victory.

Rubio was likely the 2nd Ballot designee.

All that said, we're likely to never know.
