Donald Trump has rescinded his pledge to support the Republican nominee for president.
Asked by moderator Anderson Cooper if he stood by the earlier pledge, Trump said: "No, I don't."
"We'll see who it is," he said during the CNN town hall.
He said he had been treated "unfairly" by the Republican National Committee and the GOP establishment. He said he was unsure whether the Republican establishment was plotting to take the nomination away from him during the convention in Cleveland.
He also said he didn't need Cruz to promise to support him should Trump win the nomination.
"I’m not asking for his support," Trump said.
"I don't want his support, I don't need his support, I want him to be comfortable," Trump said, taunting Cruz for dancing around the issue of whether he would support Trump if Trump were the nominee.

1237 delegates is an arbitrary number. I’m fine with it, inasmuch as the GOP allows the process to unfold naturally. This year the primaries have been so tainted by the clear attempt to rig the game by the insiders that it frankly leaves me thinking that sticking with this arbitrary number is just one more sign of how the elites have been successful at completely freezing out those of us without a membership card to their club from leadership. If we held our noses and supported crappy candidates that did not in any way reflect the base in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 then they better damn well be ready to hold theirs and support Trump right effing now.
Every damn thing Cruz, Kasich, Romney, Bush, Levine and the rest of the anti-Trump self-congratulatory club do just helps the Democrats.
Actually BFAC is a certified admirer of one Bill Clinton. Can Hillary be far behind?
Looks like Trump is a winner.

I know Cruz implied Trump said not to mess with his kids, and if Trump was to do that, it would be wrong. BUT, Trump did NOT say anything about Cruz’s kids and that is why I asked mrpotatohead where Trump trashed Cruz’s family. It
never happened. It will be no wonder if Hillary wins with
these distortions and lies within the Republican Party.
Cruz didn't "decline to back Trump"...he declined to commit to backing Trump.
Unlike Trump, who said he was taking back his promise to back the republican nominee.
Are going to support one and not the other in these decisions?
1237 isn't "arbitrary", it's a majority + 1.
"Arbitrary" would be 1233 -- or some other "arbitrary" number.
When the whole process is over, the person who gets the most delegates will be the nominee, no doubt about it.
The process is not over, however, after a public opinion poll, a series of primaries, or even a convention ballot yielding less than a majority for any one person. It is only over after a majority of the 2475 assembled delegates agree on a candidate.
This process is not about anyone's ego or about being fair to anyone. It is about a diverse political party putting forth a nominee with the demonstrated ability to appeal to, at the very least, a majority of the delegates elected to represent the interest of the people who elected them.
The wisdom of this system is never more evident that in a time such as this year when we have a hard fought and often bitter contest. The majority requirement forces these, sometimes bitter enemies, to make accommodations with one another. They will be forced to place common interest above personal differences and hopefully come out of the process better able to defeat the democrat nominee. It might be messy and uncomfortable but my contention is a convention fight is more uniting that a bare majority going into the convention. The person who gets the nomination is going to need all the support he can get because the general election is not going to be a walk in the park. No one is entitled to the office, it has to be earned.
Well one way to stop that. Treat trump fair and give him the nominee if he has most delegates. And no stealing delegates which Cruz has done. I won’t vote for him if immoral tricks are done by Cruz.

If Trump is cheated out of the nomination I very much hope he runs 3rd party.
If he does, and he wins, GREAT. If he does, and he loses, at least we’ll be able to go down fighting.
If we’re lucky, we’ll destroy what’s left of the rotting carcass known as the GOPe either way.
I pledge right now that I will not support Cruz or anyone else who isn’t Donald Trump.
