Trump takes back pledge to support GOP nominee
Politico ^

Posted on 03/29/2016 7:31:13 PM PDT by springwater13

Donald Trump has rescinded his pledge to support the Republican nominee for president.

Asked by moderator Anderson Cooper if he stood by the earlier pledge, Trump said: "No, I don't."

"We'll see who it is," he said during the CNN town hall.

He said he had been treated "unfairly" by the Republican National Committee and the GOP establishment. He said he was unsure whether the Republican establishment was plotting to take the nomination away from him during the convention in Cleveland.

He also said he didn't need Cruz to promise to support him should Trump win the nomination.

"I’m not asking for his support," Trump said.

"I don't want his support, I don't need his support, I want him to be comfortable," Trump said, taunting Cruz for dancing around the issue of whether he would support Trump if Trump were the nominee.

Hey, Mr POTATOHEAD.... RNC and GOPe are plotting as we speak to take TRUMP down! .... You won’t admit to all the evidence and reporting concerning trying to DENY Trump the nomination, Why should he support RNC?

Tell you what. They try to pull a fast one at the convention, and me and MANY OTHERS are WALKING AWAY from this! This I CAN GUARANTEE YOU!

If CRUZ wins the nomination on the first vote. I will support CRUZ, but if they pull a fast one where Trump has the LEAD in delegates, .....then I hope TRUMP runs 3rd Party, and takes GOP DOWN IN NOVEMBER!

I WILL VOTE FOR THE TAKEDOWN!

Nobody has a “right” to walk away from pledges. Not Trump, not Cruz or the GOP. Reneging on your word is not a good trait. Gets easier every time one would think.

“Now I believe it was one of two reasons. 1) Cruz wanted money or 2) Cruz tried to talk Trump out of running.”

I agree. I think it was a very cynical ploy. He misjudged how Trumps support would explode. He, like many other thought he would be out before Labor day. So he decided to act friendly to Trump, and wait for him to bow out. He hoped the friendly act would gain him a section of voters he could win.
But the apparent friendly act was a fake. Like so much of Raphael. Even his name.

Can’t blame him. The GOPe has all but declared he won’t get the nomination if they can help it.

One big ahole, JoSixChip.

Yep, I can see why you would say that. The lines are being drawn and you are on the wrong side. That can and should make you bitter.

No bitterness here. Wrote in Reagan against Carter. Wrote in Duncan Hunter when you guys nominated McCain. Not one regret all those years later. You mistake bitterness for surprise at the number of rubes on the right.

Oh I see, a youngster, full of banter and bluster, and another candidate for the 2016 “Wizards First Rule” of the Year award.

Thank god. Cruz doesn’t deserve his support if he unfortunately is nominee. I hope every trump supporter writes in trumps name.

To tell you the truth I don’t think you see anything with any clarity at all.

Exactly right. He changes his mind all the time — and lies all the time, too.

He said he opposed the Iraq war (WRONG); he said he wasn’t fined $1 million for hiring illegal Polish workers (WRONG); he said Scott Walker created a $2.2 billion debt (WRONG); he blamed President Bush for 9/11 (WRONG). He has some screws loose.

I vote Trump and third party Congress.

A Republican Congress will follow the orders of the Shadow President Mitt Romney” and thwart and obstruct him at every turn in order to set him up to fail so one of those losers can run in 2020.

No thanks. I don’t want Bus/Romney/Ryan/McConnell or any of those clowns pulling these stunts that they are pulling in election season.

I would rather take my chances with a Republican Congress. Preferably, third party candidates.

We will talk as we get closer, but these snakes should be pushed far far away from DC. The rot and corruption runs too deep.

So does Hillary and tens of millions of her supporters.

Typical Trumpite, calling Cruz a “booger-eating imbecile”. You are so artful and brilliant in your use of language. At least you don’t seem to have to reply on the F-bomb, unlike Trump at some rallies.

And yet Cruz can with about 18% support in VA, OH, IL, and FL? Dream on.

If Trump is swindled out of the nomination it means the end of the GOP.

Many millions will vote Trump as a write-in and either leave the rest of the ticket blank or vote for every democrat in every other race.

There would likely be only a few republicans left in the house and almost all republican senate candidates would lose.

IMO this will happen even if Trump says nothing at all. If he were to suggest the action to his followers then the result would be of biblical proportions.

This election is the last chance to save the republic... if Trump is not the nominee the amnesty that will follow will change the country in a way that cannot be easily reversed. The only option without Trump is secession.

If we face the end of the republic then getting it over quickly is the best option IMO. Then we can start the rebuilding.... perhaps it would start with The Republic of Texas as a new nation.

Maybe I’m lucky not to be young. It Trump is not able to reverse the course of the nation then I truly pity the children! The world they will be forced to grow up in will not be pretty. :-(

Lol. J is not M. I post under my real name. J stands for John. Unlike all the anonymous heroes here who have never stood nose to nose with a union thug in support of conservatism.
