Where I grew up in the south...I’d take a guess that 10-percent of the guys between thirty and sixty....are regularly taking opioid pain meds. They have no intentions of quitting because they have work or old football injuries, and it’s the only thing that deadens the pain. Fine....but you can’t rely upon these people after a year or two, and they’ve doubled their dosage level. These are people are no real use for a company, and can’t be relied upon to work in a safe fashion anymore. You might as well give them some medical retirement deal and just let them stay home.

Yes, I worked with a guy like that. Totally useless. Came to work late, sweat profusely when he was high and fell asleep on the job.

Opioids are about the toughest drug to get off of. I’ve read stories where hypes went right back to the needle after 20 years of sobriety like it was yesterday.

We have a horrendous problem here with heroin usage by young kids. And this is a relatively well off suburban area.

Have a customer who has an apt. in his basement for his brother in law who is hooked pain pills for a back issue he won’t take care of.

The guy sits on the couch like a zombie.

I told the customer that he’s risking the safety of his entire family with this guy. He likes playing with knives and more than one night he’s woken up to see the BIL in the doorway of his bedroom in the middle of the night.

Stuff upstairs is also starting to disappear.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. At best, you're making vast generalizations.

I've been on an opioid for almost 10 years for extreme back problems. (yes, I've had surgery and get injections periodically) Some days I take less, some days I take the full dose. I've never doubled my dosage! People can damn well rely on me! I'm actually more reliable at my job than my younger co-workers.
