MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Ted Cruz says there is a risk that Donald Trump supporters would bolt from the Republican Party if he loses the nomination at the GOP convention this summer.

That’s why Cruz said in an interview on WTMJ radio in Milwaukee on Thursday that the best course is for the Texas senator to win a majority of the delegates before then.

I read it and Ted of course insulted Trump again. Saying FU to Trump supporters again.

Cruz says there is a risk that Trump “takes his marbles and goes home and throws a fit. I hope he doesn’t.”

Cruz is an a**hole.

What is DISGUSTING is in how Cruz is show is lawyer slick side along with his ruthless campaign manager in going after states that Trump already won. We get it, there a super delegates. That is different than the electoral college.

It is DISGUSTING and the biggest turn off that shady lawyer Cruz is attempting to take away votes that Trump already won. People got off early, took the day off, went out of the way to either vote by mail or early vote in their state in order to make a difference. In every previous Republican Primary, we have never had to worry that our delegates could be bought by a Canadian lawyer after the fact. While it may be within the fine print of rules that what Cruz is doing is legal, the optics regarding his approach to disenfranchise primary voters who want their actual primary vote to count for something in Cleavland is wrong. Cruz likely knows it is wrong but his blind ambition and ruthless campaign manager do not care. Trump will still win, but Cruz's reputation for is already taking a hit for the nasty grab for voters who now feel disenfranchised.

My question is does he have a legal path to be on the ticket as an independent?

I saw an article on that today. Most states have “sore loser” laws that say a candidate can’t run, BUT 48 states have precedents established where a losing candidate could run on a 3rd party ticket. The biggest problem I saw was Texas. Doesn’t mean Trump couldn’t run third party, but he would have to do a legal challenge in Texas.

Not even close to being the “man of God” he portrayed himself as.

Trump can always endorse 3rd party candidates. It will have the same effect. The GOP is dead without Trump voters.

Cruz must have the GOP whispering in his ear....just like Jeb who declared he did not need the base to win the nomination.

It is too late for a credible, competent conservative to be nominated for 2016.

Hillary is going to win in a landslide.

So, the most important thing conservatives can accomplish in 2016 is to completely blow up the GOPe-led Republican Party.

The sooner the GOPe can be annihilated the better.

Seriously, Is someone forcing you against your will to participate here?

Hell will find the likes of Ted Cruz in due time, I am sure.

Saw a poll recently that said 50% of Trump supporters would vote Cruz if he is the nominee, 25% maybe and 25% definitely no.

Compare that with 50% of women and 25% of men who would never vote for Trump. And that was before his abortion statement(s).

Based on that if we want a Republican victory, need to vote Cruz.

Agree.

It is unfortunate but his lies are just constant against Trump. Can’t even watch him anymore because his lies about Trump are so over the top and non-stop. You almost expect the interviewer to start laughing when Cruz responds because the lies are so over the top and blatant.

If Trump doesn’t get the GOP nomination, he’d find himself blocked from third party runs in 2016 in Texas and Ohio.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2016/03/13/could-trump-run-as-an-independent-if-gop-stops-his-nomination.html

...At stake are two Ohio election laws. The first is known as the “sore-loser” law, which prohibits a candidate who loses a primary from then running as an independent in the November election. Former Ohio Democratic Chairman James Ruvolo says “party primaries mean nothing if there isn’t a sore-loser law.”

The second law requires anyone wishing to run as an independent presidential candidate to file no later than Aug. 10, 90 days before the November election. To qualify as an independent, the candidate must claim “not to be affiliated with a political party.”

It would be nearly impossible for Trump to prove he is not affiliated with a political party because he has taken part in Republican debates and GOP primaries. And secondly, by trying to run as an independent, he might violate the sore-loser law.

The Ohio Supreme Court has at least twice upheld the sore-loser law, including in 2014 when it rejected an effort by a Democratic judicial candidate from Ashtabula — who, after losing the primary, tried to file as a candidate for an entirely separate judicial seat.

The second law dealing with party affiliation was upheld in 2006 by the 6 th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The federal appeals panel ruled that Charles Morrison of central Ohio could not run as an independent after losing a Republican congressional primary to then-Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Upper Arlington....

...Ohio is one of three states with sore-loser laws for presidential candidates, along with Texas and South Dakota...
