Ted Cruz Declares Wisconsin ‘A Turning Point’ In The GOP Campaign

By Sean Sullivan and Philip Rucker April 5

MILWAUKEE — Ted Cruz rolled to a landslide victory Tuesday in Wisconsin’s hotly contested Republican presidential primary, capitalizing on a difficult stretch for Donald Trump to cut into the front-runner’s overall delegate lead and deliver a psychological blow to the billionaire mogul.

Though the senator from Texas is reviled by many party leaders for his explosive and polarizing brand of politics, Cruz won over establishment Republicans as well as grass-roots conservative activists across this state who had come together in an urgent push to stop Trump. Late returns showed him leading Trump by a wide margin.

Cruz hopes his Wisconsin win transforms the trajectory of the race. Wisconsin adds a important Midwestern bellwether to the basket of mostly Southern or rural states he has won to date, giving the Texan evidence that he can appeal beyond ultra-conservative and religious voters.

Savoring his biggest night since winning the kickoff Iowa caucuses in February, Cruz declared before cheering supporters here in Milwaukee: “Tonight is a turning point. It is a rallying cry. It is a call from the hardworking men and women of Wisconsin to the people of America: We have a choice — a real choice.”

Trump remains in a favorable position nationally, but Cruz now has fresh momentum heading into future contests and Tuesday’s results increase the possibility that the nomination battle spills onto the floor of the party’s July convention in Cleveland

It may a be a turning point, to a loss of America should Cruz get the nomination - he will never win in the general and is not what he claims to be.

But go ahead, support the lying cultist, you only have yourself to blame when Hillary gets the WH

Looking at the Trump Chump comments it is clear that they are as ugly as their candidate.

It is a turning point.

Up until now Cruz hadn’t won one state East of the Mississippi.

Congrats Ted. You’ve finally won one state East of the Mississippi.

Cruz has now only won one state bordering the Mississippi on the West side side. He has now won one state bordering the Mississippi on the East side.

Those are his two most Eastern State wins.

Entirely predictable.

The way they carry on you’d think that Wisconsin has a huge number of delegates that would catapult Cruz into a gigantic lead. In reality it’s a small number of delegates and might slightly delay the demise of the Cruz campaign. But watch, any number of delegates picked up by Cruz will be pitched as “the end of Trump”.

Donald Trump is still the front runner. The GOPe can’t stop his NE support. And Ted and Tammy Faye have a bright future in tent revivals.

It’s a turning point for me. I’ll turn to a write-in candidatee or 3rd party candidate. Yes folks, Cruz will be the “great” uniter. NOT!

You are delusional if you think Cruz will not be the nominee.

Momentum at this point in the campaign is a thing of beauty, especially for a great guy, and strong leader like Cruz.

America got her braces off tonight!

He can turn all he wants to buy later this month he will be incapable of winning 1237, let me tell you.

And for having the Governor, Speaker of the House, RNC Chair, the newspapers and every talk radio host in the state against him, it’s rather remarkable that Trump still managed to win a majority of rural counties and a sizable fraction of the vote in a purple state that hasn’t voted for a Republican for President since Reagan.

LOL, it’s funny as hell when a Cruzoid calls ANYTHING “ugly.” You ever seen Ted Cruz?

Ted only needs to win 94% of the remaining delegates to go into the convention with 1237 delegates.
