Move-In Ready: Gov. Scott OKs Bill to Let Couples Shack Up
NBC Miami ^ | 4/6

Posted on 04/06/2016 12:31:46 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Florida couples shacking up together are no longer breaking the law.

Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday signed a bill to repeal the state's largely unenforced prohibition on cohabitation. It was one of 20 bills he signed into law.

Under a law that has been on the books since 1868, a man and woman living together could be fined $500 and locked up in jail for 60 days. According to 2014 census data, there are nearly 438,000 unmarried male-female couples among 7.3 million Florida households.

The new law repeals the entire statute covering married or unmarried men and women "engaging in open behavior that is gross lewdness and lascivious.''

Florida is one of only a handful of states that still has a law making cohabitation illegal.

I don't need some law that "advocates" for some moral well-being.

Nor do you need some law that "advocates" for some IMMORAL well-being.

But you got those don't you? Laws that require your tax money to support abortions. Laws that force you to bake a queer marriage cake and more.

And why do we have these oppressive immoral liberal laws?

Because we scoffed at and pissed away our moral conservative laws.

Governer Scott is the one who is going to Hell for this. The fire shall never die, and the worms shall eat for eternity.

In NC it is illegal to have sex in any other position than missionary.

It is the only permissable position before God.

It is also illegal to have oral sex.

It is a disgusting practice. Further, I consider open-mouth kissing to be oral sex as well.

“Actually, you are. Theocratic law is not conservative.”

I never said I am for theocratic law. Typical canard of the Godless left.

I am referring to your knee-jerk hostility to Christianity and traditional values.

Your comment on this thread is more appropriate for a secular left point of view.

““Going to Hell” has nothing to do with the issue. We are weaker and less economically stable as a nation since we abandoned these common sense laws.”

Exactly these guys like EEE are the ones who are obsessed with fire and brimstone and sin etc...

Then they think it’s good we became more pagan and like Islamic societies.

Is that in the Bible somewhere?

No, laws at their best didn’t do squat but tidy up a little in a situation where there was already a good consensus about what to do, and that was for the sake of mankind if not for the sake of God too.

You sound like a liberal, from whom 90% of our modern excess of laws have come.

“In NC you can’t buy alcohol before 12 on Sunday.”

In Georgia, it’s 12:30 pm on Sunday. A bill to give counties the local option to lower the start time to 10:30 am (the so-called Brunch Law) was recently defeated by the conservative, Republican-dominated legislature. It’s ironic that the same legislators who champion local control at election time refuse to grant it on this and so many other issues.

You should be afraid of scoffing at and pissing at God before you ever worry about a single secular law.

I asked you if it was in the Bible. I have never seen it or heard of it being in there. But I don’t profess to be a Bible authoritarian. I was just curious.

Typical straw nan.

Nah. But as you might know, I am Free Republic’s prude. I don’t believe in sex in any form. Not even inside of marriage, not even for procreation. Labs can help with pregnancies. There is no need for copulation, that just encourages the Devil.

This was a reflection of traditional values that our Founding Fathers adhered to. Believe it or not, it was once absolutely not allowed or at very least very frowned upon for unmarried men and women to live together. If that were still the case, imagine how much better society would be today!
