Daniel Pipes: There's a name for Trump's brand of politics: neo-fascism
The Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | April 7, 2016 | Daniel Pipes

Posted on 04/07/2016 3:38:08 PM PDT by EveningStar

Of his many outrageous campaign statements, perhaps Donald J. Trump's most important ones concern his hoped-for role as president of the United States.

When told that uniformed personnel would disobey his unlawful order as president to torture prisoners and kill civilians, Trump menacingly replied "They won't refuse. They're not going to refuse, believe me."

Responding to criticism by the speaker of the House, Trump spoke like a Mafia don: "Paul Ryan, I don't know him well, but I'm sure I'm going to get along great with him. And if I don't? He's gonna have to pay a big price." ...

Concerning the media, which he despises, Trump said, "I'm going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money." ...

...and a President who sidesteps the Constitution, disregards Congress, refers to the Constitution as a document of negative liberties, who wants to increase the ranks of the Democrat party through unbridled immigration,
who loves to spend money, who levels charges of racism based upon skin color, is, what?

Just asking.

Daniel Pipes isn’t running for president. But I agree, he is unsuited.

There is a word for anything we on the left don’t like and its “racism” unless it’s “sexism. “. If neither work we can dust off homophobia and when all else fails let’s drop the “neo-fascist” schtick cause anything with “neo” in it make us sound cool.

Clearly, Trump is very weak on Constitutional issues. FR has little business supporting him.

It's "your," not "you're."

Neo-facism?

I would label Mister trump simply as a fascist, but hey, "neo-fascism" fits a bit better.

Mister trump certainly loves to strike the El Duce pose, doe he not?

Trump is a bully with too much money. Should he win the nomination, many say they will not vote. To really get revenge, vote for Bernie, who promises to take 90% of Trump’s money. Perhaps with only 10% left, he would gain humility.

Wrong. liberalism is the new fascism.

Try to disagree with a liberal on a college campus and you’ll find that out quickly.

seems you know little about “el Duce” el Duce is a Spanish designation; Il Duce is Italian. Gotta be somewhat correct when one wants to be snarky.

Besides, the Spanish might be offended.

hint: Mussolini was Italian.

No Mr. Pipe. Trump is a Nationalist. So am I. Nationalists believe in their “Nation” and put their “Nation’s” interests before “Foreign” or any other “Interests”. Otherwise, why have a Nation to begin with?

My son has talked at length with me about the men he srved with, and the kind of men his leaders were. None were perfect, but the qualities you described, they had in abundance.

Thank you.
