Trump/Rubio 2016. The race to 1066.

OK. So Trump looks like he might end up a few delegates short of 1237. Maybe, maybe not. If he were to offer the VP to Rubio, in exchange for his 171 delegates, he the would only need to get to 1066. He freezes out Cruz, he freezes out Kasich and rewards them for their machinations with a loss. He solidifies his vote in Florida by adding Cuban American voters and other Rubio supporters. He wins back some of the disaffected fedgov employees of NOVA that went for Rubio and improves his chances in VA. He somewhat assuages the establishment. He can also name Rubio as "immigration czar" and help his numbers with Hispanics. Rubio will be out of government next year without his Senate seat, but if he is VP he will become the President of the Senate and the deciding vote in some cases. Rubio will jump at the chance to be the VP, imho. Cruz and Kasich hung around in a cynical attempt to keep Trump from 1237, while Marco bowed out gracefully and did the honorable thing. I think this is a win, win for both men. Trump must win on the first ballot. It would be much easier with Rubio's delegates.

OK, just an idea I think has merit.

The idea that Marco could be President if something unfortunate happened to Trump is unacceptable.

LOL. You’re late. I suggested this 30 minutes ago in a mail to the Trump ping list. I think you’re right.

I think Trump AND Cruz will wait until after NY, maybe CA, and suddenly start the auction. And by my calculations, even allowing for some favorable Cruz wins, Trump should get to 1150/1170. Cruz, of course, even with Rubes’s delegates, can’t get there, probably not with both Rubes’s and Kasich’s.

I appreciate your thoughts on this, but Rubio is not someone Freepers would traditionally support.

He’s not on board the wall or sending illegal aliens back home.

Like Cruz he’s another warmed over Bush style candidate.

The last think I want right now is another GOPe/RNC Bush third term.

" States. Marco Antonio Rubio

Born May 28, 1971

Parents: Mario and Oriales Rubio

Both parents Cuban citizens.

Parents naturalized in 1975, four years after Marco was born. "

Anchor Babies are not Natural Born Citizens, Marco is NOT eligible to run for President of the United States.

If Trump gets the nomination, I’ll support him BUT if he has the despicable, duplicitous Amnesty pimp Rubio as his running mate, I will NOT support the ticket.

Yes, I agree. I would not expect FReepers to support Rubio. I am just talking about what’s possible...not desirable necessarily.

I don’t see it.

Little people HATE being called ‘Little Marco’.

Not sayin all his delegates would go to Cruz, but the majority would not endorse the Bully, In this case.

Ego, It’s a fragile thing.

If it’s a choice of Trump/Rubio or Crooze, I’d take Trump/Rubio.

As long as Trump is in control, Rubio isn’t going to be implementing anything. If Mr. Trump puts the immigration thing on top of the agenda, get the wall built and get the laws into place and being followed, whatever Rubio would like will be a moot point.

And if Trump offers Kasich the VP spot and does not announce it until the convention, Kasich could keep accumulating more delegates and end up with the same general idea. There could be all sorts of backroom deals going on while the primaries are still in action.

Does anyone know...can Rubio direct his delegates to cast that vote for a particlular nominee or can he only release them from voting for his self?

Offering Rubio the vice-presidency is a quick way to lose the election, IMHO.

I have all the same complaints about Rubio but I’d definitely take Trump/Rubio over Cruz/whoever. That may be Trump’s only play with the GOP throwing all resources against him.

Rubio has shown his bad side but there were also glimpses of a different candidate. Cruz is all evil.
