Cruz is being blackmailed as we speak, to behave the way he is. not by dems, or by trump... but by the GOPe.
His life is being destroyed and he is held hostage to obey his GOPMASTERS upon penalty of his family, his career or his criminal conviction of things, unknown to all but his GOPMASTERS.
The Cartel was not a joke. But they are like a singularity gravity well. And those who cannot be blackmailed, MUST NOT BE GIVEN POWER.
We are seeing it played out before our very eyes.
They pick and groom them because they are compromised and can be blackmailed. Easier to make them dance when needed.
They keep getting elected, promoted, elevated because of political expedience. They’re all someone’s useful idiot.
They pursue elected office because:
1. They like controlling people.
2. Their method all along has been to increase their status as an authority figure and then to make use of this.
3. They cynically think that they are even less likely to be caught by the establishment by becoming part of it.
They keep getting elected because:
They have lots of experience in manipulating people.
This kind of abuse is about control and power, not just sexual gratification. The same reasons someone is drawn to political power.
I still remember when I first heard the name Hastert and saw his face, being proposed for Speaker.
