"This Is Devastating News For Republicans": Poll Finds Denying Trump Nomination Would Crush GOP
ZeroHedge.com ^ | 04/09/2016 | Tyler Durden

In the latest shock for the GOP, which in recent weeks some have speculated is willing to scuttle the entire republican presidential campaign if it means not having Trump as the candidate, according to a just released Reuters poll, one third of Republican voters who support Donald Trump could turn their backs on their party in November's presidential election if he is denied the nomination in a contested convention.

Or, as The Hill puts it, "blocking Donald Trump from the Republican presidential nomination with a contested convention would spell disaster for the GOP" because instead Trump supporters would vote Democrat, vote third-party or sit out the election.

Just 66% of Trump supporters, which as of this moment are the most numerous of any presidential candidate, said they would support the GOP's nominee anyway.

Should it get to a contested convention, the GOP could be hurt even more in November because 58% of Trump supporters said they would stay with the party, while 16% would leave and 26% responded they didn't know, yet.

The results are bad news for Trump's rivals as well as party elites opposed to the real estate billionaire, suggesting that an alternative Republican nominee for the Nov. 8 presidential race would have a tougher road against the Democrats.

The GOPe will deny Trump the nomination, and the party will be destroyed.

>>Ditto for Trump.

>>He has no chance of winning in November.. none.

So, if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it?

>>The Cruz supporters, the ‘true believers’, are by and large strictly ‘ideological’....AND... have always allowed themselves to be ‘used and abused’ (like most of us) these past 30 years by Republican ‘conservative-spouting’ politicians..... TRUMP supporters ARE DONE being ‘USED and ABUSED’, but the STUPID PARTY, and are ready to DUMP THE PARTY come November if TRUMP is not the nominee.

You totally nailed it!! +1

>>I doubt people would vote for Hillary if Trump is blocked. They will just stay home.

You’re right. But staying home will be worse for the GOP than is voting for Hillary. If we stay home, we don’t vote for Congress, governor, or state legislators either.

I’m prepared to do that. Our nation has been sold to billionaires and bankers and the productive American people are being replaced with Third Worlders who are willing to live a subsistence lifestyle.

“Shouldn’t you be over on DU?”

Un, no... my candidate isn’t the orange-headed liberal NY democrat.

Funny, your candidate is working overtime to make that Hillery and RATS win everything.

So, what would we be left with? A candidate slimier than Hillary?

You might wanna rethink that.

I have stated here already that I would vote for either Trump or Cruz.

Anyone saying “never Trump” or “never Cruz” are the real idiots here.

Trump would make a marvelous mess of things while, yes, Cruz is a solid conservative despite the twbloid attacks against him.

Something the "Cruz or Lose"ers are willing to ignore as Cruz goes about his personal, ego-driven vendetta and helps throw the WH to Hillary. He's even using misdirection on the envelopes he sends out asking for donations (getting off them lists is impossible if you've ever made a donation to him). The outside, said what so many of us have been thinking - "Get out or stay and fight".

The inside has a letter saying how he would never abandon us (or his own ego) and will stay with it - if only we can cough up some more dough for the cause.

I wrote a note telling him to get out as he is causing such a huge rift in potential voters that he can own it if Hillary gains the WH - his career as a conservative republican will be over.

Trump is the ONLY Republican with a chance to defeat the Globalists. Make up your mind. Do you want a FREE AMERICA where Liberty reigns or a Globalist piece of land where America no longer exists!”””

Some time ago, it was said by whom I don’t remember:

The GOPe is worried about saving the GOP.

Trump is fighting to save AMERICA.

IMO, that says it all.

I will not vote for anyone but Trump. Cruz has already shown himself to try every dirty trick he can. His campaign lying during the Iowa caucus about Carson quitting the campaign was enough for me. That was the FIRST state voting in this election-—and it told me that Cruz is not worth of being in the Oval Office.

WELL DUH! If the GOP didn’t know this without a poll, they really ARE The STUPID PARTY!

You got that right.

It’s all about the damn money. A president Trump may cause political donations to dry up and the uniparty can’t stand for that.

Actually... no. YOUR candidate is the clearest ticket of all for the dems to win it all in November.
