It would all work out just fine if #2 would be willing to shut up and acknowledge they’re not what the people want, but that’s not “principled” I guess.

More propaganda from Jim Hoft to gin up the supporter. I don't see Hoft posting that Team Trump listed a Cruz delegate on its ballot choice... Don't mention that Colorado was such a lost cause that Trump canceled an appearance.

No let's play fascist propaganda maker and demand Trump gets the nomination based on a plurality of votes and delegates because that is fair! If not, burn the place down!

I recall a movement used that these tactic to seize power in the 1930's??? who where they?

Cruz has gotten 114.9k votes per delegate

After NY he will be mathematically eliminated ... perhaps he will call on himself to get out of the race ... like he called for Kasich to get out once he could no longer get to 1237.

Trump voters are not a majority of the people. Sorry.

Yes, I realize Trump has a slightly less than two million more votes than Cruz. But I'm not at this point declaring Cruz the choice of the 'people' either.

Call: That’s exactly right. While the caucus votes we’ve held in previous elections in 2008 and 2012 were always straw polls, they didn’t bind or allocate the delegations. They at least were a snapshot into where voter sentiment is in the state of Colorado, and the decision by the state Republican Party to cancel that vote taken in connection with the caucus really did cut out any semblance of democracy or the popular will in connection with the delegate election event. It became an entire party insiders game with getting delegates to go to county assemblies in the state convention. While Colorado has over a million registered Republican voters, the only votes that really counted were that of the 3,900 delegates that gathered down in Colorado Springs.

http://www.coloradoindependent.com/156936/colorado-republican-caucuses

The above is a pretty good explanation. The Colorado Republican caucus was held on March 1. From another post by the GOP chair he said they don’t have the system in place to do a formal votes. So it sounds like it is more of a raise your hand type thing to elect the delegates. And because it isn’t a formal vote, the delegates are not bound to any one candidate as they leave the caucus.

Straw polls about who the delegates may like may have been taken at some locations, but they are not binding. But, people were “elected” in some fashion to go on to the state convention.

At some point I need to re-learn how the early process of nominations went. But iirc it was the local politicians, already elected by the people, and deemed to have good judgement in what was best for their community - they were the ones that got together and caucused for a nominee. And then selected a few delegates out of their “wise” group to represent them at the state.

The first primary wasn’t until in 1910 in Oregon, and pushed by the Progressive Party. The primary process became a lot bigger for the Republicans after 1972 iirc as we tried to follow what the Democrats had done.

All the overheated rhetoric flying around pretty much guarantees that neither Cruz nor Trump people will get what they want this season.

At this point I'm afraid we should expect a Clinton-Kasich race. Nice going everyone.

Some of the Colorado Republican Republican leaders are finally risking the anger of Trump fans (shown in the following).

OpenSecrets.org
American Fedn of St/Cnty/Munic Employees [State/County/Municipal Employees]
[Total Contributions:] $94,708,977
[To Dems & liberals:] $93,739,954

[Pct to Repubs & Conservs:] 1%

Leviathan (Uncle Sam employs more people than you think)
National Review ^ | 02/03/2011 | Iain Murray
"...nearly 40 million Americans employed in some way by government."

...and pensioners from the same.

It can't go on with no sustainable revenues from many new manufacturing starts on private, rural properties. Repeal the regulations and fees against owner-building and new, small manufacturing starts, or take the racketeering to the conclusion of the default process and face the consequences. NIMBYs go home to the east now or with your foreclosures of the very near future.

So you think the delegates should nominate the candidate with the least amount of votes earned? It’s the same logic.

> If less, after 1st ballot, you don’t own them any longer.

And that’s how Ted Cruz gave the election to Hillery. Ted Cruz should go back and read up on Pyrrhic victories.

"hmmm. Trump has 37% of the voters nationwide but 45% of the delegates ..."

Cruz has 100% from states that don't allow their people to vote.

If all delegates were doled out proportionate to the vote in all 50 states the race would be one helluvalot closer than it currently is. Trump ought to thank the rules for being 200 delegates in front.

>He fills 12,000 seats stadiums and thinks he doesn’t have to do the work to secure the delegates he needs. So when Cruz does the work, Trump automatically calls foul.

Yep robbery is such hard work. Maybe someday Cruz will find honest work like convincing the voters to vote him in larger numbers.

>It would be uphill for Cruz, as well. (and getting harder as the rhetoric ratchets up) But because of his astronomical and still-rising negative rating Trump absolutely cannot.

Cruz is 5 points behind Trump negative rating the media has even started on him.
