Ignorant Outrage Over the Colorado GOP Caucus Vote
BernardGoldberg.com ^ | April 11, 2016 | John Daly

You see, contrary to the impression that many people have been left with over the past couple of days, Colorado’s traditional caucus-night poll had never been a binding, primary-like election. That’s not how it worked. It was a simple straw-poll — nothing more, nothing less. It wasn’t the process used to distribute delegates to the candidates.

The nomination procedure in this state has been driven by the election of representatives for over a hundred years (except for from 1992 to 2002). It starts with grassroots caucus attendees from local precincts voting on congressional-district delegates (their neighbors) to represent them, and ends at the state convention a few weeks later when the representatives finish selecting national delegates to back a candidate at the national convention.

Not really PM - they can write about this for the next month, it won’t change a thing in the awareness of people who don’t spend all day reading about this stuff.

The story has been set and no amount of writing is going to change it to something palatable. Cruz is viewed as a sneak and potential cheat, and that meme will stick.

Funny thing, the GOPe did it to him, no help from Trump.

The impression that the Trump camp put out was dishonest. They knew it, but they lied about it. This is a dirty campaign. I hope they both lose.

Please cite the lie the Trump camp produced.

That Cruz stole the election and that he stole delegates that would have gone to trump. That is a lie. Cruz won those delegates fair and square under rules written before either of them decided to run.

Do you need a full set of footnotes?

Yes, please cite the statement from the Trump camp on it. If you can’t cite it, how can you call it a lie?

“The people of Colorado had their vote taken away from them by the phony politicians. Biggest story in politics. This will not be allowed!”

Trump tweet from April 10 at 5:50pm.

I’m guessing by “not be allowed” that there will be a lawsuit?

Apparently the lie came from Trump himself. See post 106. Lying Don.

Factually correct. The people of Colorado were not allowed to vote for a presidental canidate thanks to a change made about 8 months ago by the GOP.

The primary vote in Colorado was never binding. And for that matter, neither are the convention delegates that say they will vote for Cruz.

>>Mr. Trump is at 68% disapproval among females. Women turn out 10% higher than men. 3rd grade arithmetic reveals Mr. Trumps unelectability (Gallup numbers).

So you are saying that the white men must keep quiet and follow the demands of the nearest “victim class” (i.e. the women) because they choose to not “like” someone. Is there any differences between the Republican Party and the Democrat Party anymore?

I love how the ideological purists (consistent conservatives) have become fans of the Establishment now that the Rules are helping Cruz accumulate delegates independent of votes. Well played, Ted! Trump definitely did not hire the right people to game the system and modern America is a place where gaming the system is a lot more valuable than hard work. Now I know what “consistent conservative” really means. It is a rich person who gets government assistance.

You just be proud of your establishment talking points and to think some time ago you were against the establishment.

Still you will always be remembered supporting the guy who cold not win by the voters and was supported by the establishment.

Women are voters, not victims. And they turn out. Gallup shows Mr. Trump is setting new lows for support among women. How will he overcome those negatives? By complaining about the rules?

Sen. Cruz is following the same set of rules as all other candidates. In CO who has a process that Sen. Cruz followed and won, just like FL who has a different process that Mr. Trump won. You may want 6 outs per inning for your candidate, but it doesn’t work that way. And Mr. Trump should stop Cryin’ about the rules and grow up.

He’s polling in 3rd place now in NY, PA and MD. LOL.
**************************************************
No one ever expected the Conservative candidate to win in the Northeast and upper Atlantic States, so this is not news.

The point is if Cruz is such a lousy candidate he can’t beat no hope, no money Kasich in the primaries he is not going to win the general against a Dem.

There was no gender gap in WI. The Trump hates women meme is a fail. Sorry.

“If the popular vote doesn’t directly correlate with the delegate assignement, they we have a problem, and it WILL be fixed. One way or another”

Exactly! All the arrogant, know it alls in this election love to call me ignorant and whiny for opposing what is clearly going on that is clearly underhanded; even though they find their legal mumbo jumbo to make it “legal”.

They completely forget that there’s another rule that supercedes all their clever little maneuvers. It’s in our Constitution and it gives the “ignorant” Americans the right to remove and dismantle a corrupt government or Party thereof when it ceases to reflect the will of the People. The Republican Party is blatant in it’s disregard for that will in this election and in the last one. It’s time to put them out of business.

“LOL. Does the slave who imagined himself free have any more power once he’s confirmed he’s actually a slave?”

Every word you have said is the bitter truth. It’s all because of Trump and the arrogant dismissal of the average voter by the Republican Party that has removed the scales from many of our eyes.

As to the “slaves” imagining themselves free; that’s how this nation came to be in the first place. I can’t dredge up much hope that there are any citizens of the caliber that our forefathers were. That’s what it takes to achieve freedom and I just don’t see our dumbed down, brainwashed, media addicted population being equal to the job. I sincerely hope that I’m wrong.
