McCrory wants lawmakers to reverse part of HB2

Raleigh, N.C. — Gov. Pat McCrory says the General Assembly should reverse a portion of the recently passed House Bill 2 but leave in place provisions that deal with locker room and restroom usage.

Specifically, the governor called on lawmakers to reverse a part of the law, known as the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, which prevents North Carolina workers who believe they've been wrongfully fired due to sex, age, race or gender from suing in state court.

"I will immediately seek legislation in the upcoming short session to reinstate the right to sue for discrimination in North Carolina state courts," McCrory said in a video announcement Tuesday. "Simply put, I have listened to the people of North Carolina, and the people of North Carolina are entitled to both privacy and equality. We can and we must achieve both of these goals."

At the same time, McCrory lashed out at critics, saying that he had "come to the conclusion that there is a great deal of misinformation, misinterpretation, confusion, a lot of passion and, frankly, selective outrage and hypocrisy, especially against the great state of North Carolina."

Corporate America has declared war on our values. Frankly I’m through voting to protect them from rampaging Socialists. Bring on Bernie.

A curse on North Carolina and its politicians, for standing up against perversion and then backing down because of money.

Yeah, if this report is accurate, then I would say the governor is correct.

He is trying to be a good executive.

God bless him for standing his ground on the attention-getting portion of this law.

Interesting that McCrory thinks that would satisfy the sodomite mobs.
So naive...

the litigation clause does not change the substance of the law - it stands. Women’s restrooms and locker rooms are still off limits to males born with male appendages.

I am proud of my governor. He is one of few Republican politicians standing tall against the onslaughts of the mighty forces out of the left. He has been a rock on this and FR ought to get behind him, if only with a couple of attaboys!

If the legislature refuses to bend, then what?

But a business should not be punished or forced to service a private event. Also women shouldn’t be allowed in male facilities either. They had an ex-NFL Cheerleader sexually act a bou in the men’s restroom. Heck I think women reporters should be banned from male locker rooms also.

No surprise at all. Once paypal decided not to move, BOA making threats, the NBA and a host of other businesses telling the governor behind the scenes what will happen, this is the result.

I expect a watered down adjustment or full repeal very soon. The R’s in the statehouse in Raleigh won’t want to kill the golden tech goose in NC

They will bend. Plenty of large tech firms have been having behind the scenes meetings with certain legislators the past week.

Paypal choosing not to show up demonstrated how serious they are
