50 jobs eliminated as University of Missouri cuts hit cleaning, maintenance operations

The University of Missouri will be shaggier and dirtier and faculty will be responsible for taking their own trash to dumpsters under the plan for cutting 50 jobs in campus operations detailed in an email memo sent Friday by Vice Chancellor Gary Ward.

Landscaping operations will be cut back so sidewalk edges are trimmed no more than twice a year and only in the most visible locations, Ward wrote. After Saturday football games, the debris left by tailgaters will not be picked up until Monday, he wrote.

Custodial staff no longer will clean or remove trash or recyclables from offices, Ward wrote.

“This frees up custodians to assist with recycling, which, previously, has been a volunteer effort,” Ward wrote.

The plan to save $5.47 million in the MU Operations division that employs 842 people exempts the MU Police Department and MU Environmental Health and Safety. Ward warned it likely means slower response time for maintenance issues, less overtime and slower snow removal.

In the email, Ward warned that “we will be unable to sustain the level of service for which you have become accustomed. I do not anticipate that changes beginning July 1, 2016, will inhibit the academic mission at Mizzou, nor is it my intention for that to ever happen.”

I’d add Mathematics, Computer Science and Philosophy.

“Was the football budget cut?”

Without the brain-damaged retards, how else is the university going to feel good about itself?

Broadly, I would file accounting and finance under “business.” You can’t fit Math into Science (it is not one.) Statistics and Computer Science, while not mathematics, are applied science but not “physical” or “biological” ones.

Should I be spelling out each and every sub-department under Business, Engineering, and Sciences?

And undergradute Philosophy can go take a hike, the most useless topic there is. Just pick up a book and be done with it. No need an entire department on this useless topic. Now, the Doctorate of Philosophy is a completely another matter.

Sorry but you are just being pedantic. How about one department called “Useful Department” and trash the rest. The Useful Department will have your Applied Science, happy?

Math isn’t science.

I am sure that Wolfe is a leftist and he got less that he deserved. I am surprised that he held out that long. In the end the response was to give in. Had the students and football players been told that they were free to leave the university and their financial support was cut they would have caved. This university is headed to be the Detroit of universities. First the custodial staff will be cut and the leftwing professors will remain. Next the STEM professors will go.

“part of this is the melissa click effect”

That on top of the Head football Coach and players threatening to boycott their last game because they felt Black students weren’t being respected. All the lefty Heads of Depts asked for blood so both the President and Chancellor resigned. Looks like the level headed Alum are begining to have a say with their checkbooks.

Let the ‘GREEN STUDENTS’ do the cleaning up. See how long they remain “greenies”.

It's NOT the University's fault! It's the fault of false witness by a fake student. The part time, undeclared major, rich postgraduate student chooses to live in the dorm???, and six weeks into his first semester he's “sick and tired” of the “climate” because a white guy yelled “Nigga” at his WHITE friend at one in the morning). There was never any swastika anywhere on campus. There was no evidence of any catcalls from cars. And no, the President of the University did NOT try to run down anybody. “Concerned student 1950” received considerable coaching directly from the Community Organizer in Chief in multiple White House visits. He spent the summer of 2015 in Ferguson, Mo, and commented favorably about it. Contributing to the problem is that the DemocRAT governor has bled the University all 7-plus years of his office. Jay Nixon has even withheld funds the legislature already approved. Every Missourian has been affected by the baseless claims of racism. False witness is a mortal sin.

At least when they have to increase hiring in the cleaning and maintenance staff in a few years to rectify the problems they will have an ample supply of recent graduates who aren’t qualified to do anything else. Not that they would want to hire them.

It’s ironic that these punk socialists’ good intentions always end up hurting the most vulnerable people first — cleaners and maintenance workers. “But it was for a noble cause! I’m honored to have to head on down to the unemployment office...”

Thank Black Lives Matter!

Maybe additional kudos also go to that great "assistant (community activist) professor" who called for "a little muscle here."

Of course other award nominees include not only black athletes refusing to play ball and their coach (you know the guy who resigned over pretended slights) who cancelled games to show solidarity against "white privilege."

Karma's a beach!
