Trump supporters cannot afford to get complacent. Trump needs to fight for every delegate, recruit unbound delegates, and keep his currently-bound delegates loyal. If he falls short in bound delegates, perhaps 1,100 (an unrealistically low number!), he can still win, maybe, but it’s nowhere near a guarantee.

I bet Hillary would love Cruz as the nominee. Two reasons. She’ll yell everyday that Cruz won 4 primaries and the media will protect her. Second. Glenn beck. His videos will be played daily and the media wil protect her. Cruz not having any trump supporters will make it very difficult for Cruz to win the general.

“They’re probably getting creamed in focus groups despite the media’s complicity in pushing the meme “It’s all by the rules”.”
I think Trump was the winner, by far, in Colorado. And he didn’t get one delagate.

>> Having enough to unquestionably WIN on the first ballot is the only way

That is correct.

Trump’s goose is pretty well cooked if he doesn’t win on the first ballot. And rightfully so.

Well Drudge has his panties all in a bunch over this statement, but I really doubt there is much accurate about it. Looks to me like it was one guy’s opinion, and I will bet you the RNC clarifies that as the day goes forward.

http://www.aol.com/article/2016/04/13/sen-marco-rubio-may-have-just-endorsed-sen-ted-cruz/21343441/

On Tuesday Rubio appeared on conservative host Mark Levin’s new video
podcast for an interview where he said:

“I want the Republican nominee to be a conservative ... and the best
person — and in my view the only person at this moment of the candidates
still currently campaigning — is Ted Cruz.”

I agree trump cannot get complacent, but I wonder how not being able to get 1237 is going to affect Cruz when that reality hits. I wonder because since Kasick was ineligible to he hasn’t won a single delegate. I don’t think voters want a guy with no chance of winning the nomination.

-- What's going on is the GOP is taking a beating over the Cruz's delegate machinations and Colorado's disenfranchisement of GOP voters. --

There are a couple states that don't have any primary, and the rules for choosing delegates to the convention CAN work out in a reasonably fair way in those states too.

Technically, the "disenfranchisement" in Colorado (and there is "disenfranchisement" in FL too, winner take all, etc.) isn't because the voters aren't consulted, it's because a relatively small number of people controlling the rules and the process, bent the rules and process in favor of the candidate they prefer. There ought to be some blowback over that.

I think it is great that the over-reaching by a handful of zealots in Colorado is splattering crap all over the RNC too.

I agree with you, by the way. The optics of this, whether technically accurate or not, are benefiting Trump. And if the meme "by the rules" does catch hold, Trump has a fallback of actually looking at the rules, and showing examples of how they were NOT followed. Manafort claims that delegate objections will be filed, and the only way these have any traction is through a claim that the rules were not followed.

All Hillary would have to do is play a tape of Cruz’ pastor pal saying all gays should be killed. Cruz campaign DOA.

It sounds like Manafort has found a friend in the RNC. This Evans fella is stirring the pot.

I’m okay with that outcome too. I want as many Trump/Cruz delegates as possible. If Trump sweeps the last few states and goes over 50.1%, that takes the choice completely out of establishment hands.

I find the whole "delegate strategy" topic utterly mystifying.
The notion of a person who is not even running becoming our Republican nominee is also...shocking.
Eager for this to be over with either Trump or Cruz as POTUS.

I guess GOPe will have to lower the bar to make sure Trump is treated fairly. If GOPe gives the nomination to Trump without reaching 1237- I guess that is okay with all his supporters.

BS...just disinformation to get you to stand down. Just like Nancy Pewlosi said they didn’t have the votes for Obamacare...then magically 30 days later they passed it.
