What I don't get is that Smith's wife stated that Smith was out of his vehicle and was shot 8 times in the back outside the vehicle. So how did he wind up in the driver's seat slumped over the wheel as police reported? Did he climb back into his vehicle? A bit odd.

And what about the bullet hole(s) in the windshield? Exit holes?

Maybe Mrs. Smith pulled her wounded husband back into the car, to get him out of the line of fire. I, who have never been shot, can only imagine, that being hit even once in the back, would make the average person stand immobilized, let alone eight shots.
