Cruz eyes double-agent delegates in bid to snatch GOP nomination from Trump
The Washington Times ^ | 4/13/2016 | S.A. Miller

Sen. Ted Cruz’s hopes for winning the Republican presidential nomination outright have faded, and he has shifted to a strategy of gaming the rules, angling to send enough double-agent delegates to the July convention to snatch victory from front-runner Donald Trump.

It’s a major reversal for Mr. Cruz, who just weeks ago insisted he would win the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the convention. But major wins in Utah, Wisconsin and Colorado have not closed the gap, with a series of East Coast primaries looming.

Now the best option for the senator from Texas is trench warfare at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

That’s actually funny. I’m not supporting a lifelong democrat for president, bub. Hypocrite much?

Ronald Reagan was a "lifelong Democrat" too, before he switched to Republican, bub.

Ignorant much, bub?

And, BTW, the founder of this site and about 80% of the membership are supporting conservative Donald Trump, bub.

And the Conservative credentials of the membership of this site are impeccable, bub...

One problem with your theory is that Arthur Sulzberger was one of the attendees. Yet on the eve of the NY Primary, the NY Times is silent when it comes to Trump criticism. It is as if Sulzberger actually wants Trump to win the nomination. What better way to get Hillary elected. After all, it was Hillary’s husband who encouraged Trump to run in the first place.

Cruz is done, people don’t like cheaters and he was exposed big time and then did a victory speech. That was the end of the Cruz campaign.

Cruz has NO backbone, NO “principles” ( unless you’re talking about him being willing to do and say ANYTHING to get HIMSELF elected and to hell with everyone else! ), and is a FRAUD!

Wow, you are a true Cruz disciple. Trump will be more beholden to the

establishment than Ted ever would?

The establishment/insider way is strong in this one..........

Cruz isn’t a fighter - he’s a liar, cheat and thief. HE isn’t any different than McConnell or Boehner. He even wrote the TPP bill with Paul Ryan which gives away our American sovereignty. I know Cruzbots don’t believe this, and probably won’t until we lose it - then we’ll all be in a world of hurt even after we told you so.

I now know why people hate Ted Cruz. He is turning the American p;people against him too. Sure, they will be loyal as long as the money flows - but, when it stops - they’ll tell him to get lost.

What you are forgetting is this; this is dishonorable because it is thwarting the will of the people who cast their ballots in good faith, expecting their votes to go toward the election of the candidate of their choice at the convention. This is supposed to be a representative republic. Cruz is clearly demonstrating that he does not believe in this ideal. Cruz’ whole campaign is based on the idea that he is the candidate who seeks to uphold and restore the constitution of this representative republic, but in practice he is not. This primary is not supposed to be about Cruz and Trump, and who is the most clever at manipulating the rules to make himself the the winner; it is supposed to be about the people and who the people choose. The one who the most people choose is the winner! The person who does not win the most votes of the people is the loser and if he steals the votes, via the delegates, of the winner, then he is the usurper, the cheater, the illegitimate fraud who has betrayed the people! A man of dishonor, a Benedict Arnold!

And if the rules are such that they can be gamed, and the people’s choice is then cheated by the loser, then the rules are immoral and wrong; they must be changed — at the very least, lots and lots and lots of nonstop “whining” is required by the one who has been chosen by the people on behalf of the people who have been cheated and betrayed. It is the people whose rights must respected, not Cruz’ and not Trump’s rights! Your rights!

What is the matter with you Cruz people, where are your moral compasses, why can’t you see past your delight in your “win.” Why can’t you see that you too have been robbed and cheated and betrayed? It is such a Pyrrhic victory, the cost for this potential Cruz nomination is so great! (However, I think that you will find that you too will be betrayed, and all of this present rejoicing and crowing over Trump voters will end up you with eating a lot of crow as you see Bush/Romney/Ryan/Rubio/Kasich/Graham? walk away with the nomination.) Still you are helping to sell the soul of our country and of our party for even less than a mess of pottage!
